I am just now finishing up detailing mine with the help of Callie Graphics. She has been wonderful about collaborating on creating the perfect set of decals to complete custom livery. In the coming weeks I will be making a maiden flight. A note to flightline and Motion RC if you ever decide to come out with a Giant Scale series; say 80+ inches there would be a virtually untapped market... I would pay $650.00+ for a scaled up version of this arf. I would also have appreciated an option the later mk ix teardrop rudder for this arf. I am considering purchasing another one of these Spitfire's, converting the rudder so I can have a livery that I have in mind...

This is a top notch kit I am very impressed with the detail of this plane. First time I bought a Flightline product and am glad I did. Very Impressive.

Quick update to my review below on the Foxy Lady Spitfire with teeth. Meant 2 oz of lead, not 2 grams added to the nose for the sound system (what a dummy I am). Also, before flying, make sure your 4 bladed prop is in balance. Use a prop balancer, or at least check for oscillation on lower rpm before initial, or any flight. I balanced mine before the maiden and found it way out, which could have shaken everything up. After checking a lot of things and scratching my head several times, I found that one of the blades was much lighter than the other 3. Fortunately, I always get lots of spares, changed it out and it runs smooth as a babies bottom. Your not likely to have that happen, probably once in a million, but better safe than sorry.

This is a great scale flying Spitfire and is a nice large size for an 6S electric that's not a heavy underpowered dog like some other big name (FMS) warbirds I have. It has plenty of power and speed and you should be able to get at least 6 min on an Admiral 5000ma. Easy landing with full flaps, just keep enough speed to avoid stalling. Main wheels held on with an axel and set screws, so you can change them in minutes and NO C clamps like others us. Excellent ball link hardware, one of the first planes I haven't had to put my own hardware on. The only negative, and not enough to keep it from 5 stars is that the rudder is part of the aft fuselage you need to glue on, so don't damage the rudder in something like a nose-over landing or you may need to replace everything. Added the Mr. RC V4.1 sound card (upside down under the cockpit-assessable via the battery compartment) and 2 TT-25s(at the aft end of the battery compartment) and it sounds great. This required 2grams of nose weight to keep CG. Not enough room for the Aspire (but I have 3 of those and nothing but trouble and 3 V4.1's with no trouble). Located an AR636 receiver behind the tail servos because I love the 3 modes you can program with different gains and also change the gains while flying on any of the modes.I added additional paint (yellow top wing tips, red bottom and red/white/blue stripes on the tail) and Callie's custom graphics (although not needed to keep it scale) because it helps me with orientation and I think it looks cool. The teeth from the Grey Nurse and the pin-up girl (she changed the dress color from blue to yellow to match this plane) from Foxy Lady, along with some Nazi kill markings. If you haven't gotten decals from her, it's more than worth it. She has a great inventory and she'll custom anything for very little money. Also, I tried a lot of military touch-up paints and found Model Masters RAF Ocean Grey and RAF Dark Green for the top and RAF Medium Sea Grey for the bottom. Don't procrastinate, get this plane and you'll love it.

Just started putting it together, but so far what a beautifully built warbird. Unfortunately, it's winter here in the northeast so it will be late March or early April before I can get out and fly it.

First off Motion RC takes care of their customers and is a wonderful company to deal with. This aircraft turns heads at the Flying Field. It's large and in charge and a lot bigger than you would think. It's intimidating at first the fly because it's so big but it flies as gentle as you want it to. She can go low and slow or high and fast. I'm very impressed with this. The only drawback is the paint can get peeled off very easy by stickers. RAF colors are easy to come by in the model world so it's very easy to touch up. This aircraft is a true winner. Motion RC will be the source of my future aircraft purchases. Thanks again for a great product guys

I have about 20 flights on my new 1600mm Spitfire. This plane is really an outstanding model. I wasn't sure I wanted a Spitfire, but after getting it, I've fallen in love. The plane is big and absolutely beautiful. The fit and finish are first-rate. Absolutely no problems with the build at all. Putting the wings together is probably a 2-man job, unless you have a jig or stand that is big enough to hold the wings up while you connect everything and then screw in the bolts.I put the Admiral 6S 5000 battery all the way forward, and it's perfect. That makes it just a tiny bit nose heavy, which is what I like. Just took a couple clicks of aileron trim and it was flying perfect. Here are my settings on a Spectrum DX7: Aileron: Low rate: 50% 40% Expo, Mid rate: 55% 40% Expo, High rate: 60% 40% Expo; Elevator: 52% 30% Expo, Mid rate: 60% 30% Expo, High rate: 65% 30% Expo; Rudder: 91% 30% Expo on all rate settings. I set in just a tiny bit of right nose wheel, and that helps a lot with take offs. On this plane, you can actually adjust the tail wheel and rudder separately, so you can have right nose wheel set up, but the rudder is straight. Very cool.Flap settings: Up: 100% 0% Elevator; Take-off: 60% -3% Elevator; Landing: 10% -6% Elevator - all with a 1 second deployment. These settings are perfect for me. I take off and land on low rate and do all flying on high rate. This plane is very stable, but it will do all aerobatic maneuvers. It aileron rolls very nicely and has lots of elevator authority. The plane has a ton of vertical and will climb straight up almost out of site. It has decent speed (definitely faster than the 1600mm P-38) and much very maneuverable.I'm set for 7 minutes on my timer, and I'm coming down anywhere between 40% and 50% left on my 5000 mAh battery. I could probably do 8 minutes, but 7 minutes is plenty and my battery isn't drained. Batteries also don't get hot, and I fly pretty wide open for a lot of the flight. Only thing to watch out for is the narrow gear on landing. On take-off, just a little bit of right rudder until you get the speed up. Get the tail off the ground as soon as you can and fly it down the runway with the elevator and rudder. I use take-off flap, and it comes off nicely. On landing, here's the trick: Keep the tail off the ground until the last possible moment. I've found that if it has any appreciable amount of speed when the tail drops, she'll tail wag on you and probably skid over onto a wing (or two). Kill the power as soon as you've touched down and keep the tail up with forward pressure until the speed is almost gone. You'll still need to fly the rudder to keep it straight, but it's a whole lot better than when the tail wheel is on the ground and you're rolling along with speed. If you want a big warbird that's easy and fun to fly both, this plane is the ticket.Last thought: If Flightline or Freewing would come out with any other big warbirds in this size (P-47, Hurricane, Corsair, etc.), I'd buy them all. This size is perfect and affordable. Only issue is the batteries. You'll drop about $400 to have enough batteries. But, if you're a jet guy and you have some 6S batteries hanging around, go for the Spitfire. You love it.Enjoy!
