Freewing Pandora 4-in-1 Red 1400mm (55") Wingspan - PNP Reviews

4.6 Rating 139 Reviews
For those like me who are just starting out, here are my thoughts on this plane:I bought it after buying a P-51 as a first plane and crashing it horribly. I 12ided I needed a true trainer plane and read the reviews on various offerings at MRC. I settled on the Pandora and 12ided right off the bat to install a Hobbyeagle A3 Gyro immediately. The build was somewhat of a PITA as none of the screw bags were labelled. As a beginner it was very confusing to try to figure out which screws go where. I bought a micrometer off Amazon and that made things a lot easier. MRC should make sure that at least on their trainer plane offerings, that they open the boxes and mark the bags of screws etc since most buying this are beginners and could really use the help. Going that extra mile would serve them very well imo.Once I got it together I turned the Keys over to a very seasoned and experienced RC pilot to maiden. He walked me through setting up the trim and double checking the Gyro before he took it into the air, trimmed it out and then handed me the controller while supervising my piloting skills. I managed to make it all the way around the pattern and in for a pretty 12ent landing in the taildragger configuration.I ordered the plane, gyro and lots of spare parts all at once so I have plenty of parts available when I break something.....except now I don't think I will be breaking much. Its a very easy plane to fly. Maybe a bit underpowered with the stock prop but very forgiving of bad pilot inputs. Its slow enough to allow a new pilot like myself to make mistakes and then still be able to fix them.I like the versatility of the Pandora to go between high wing and low wing and tricycle and taildragger configurations. Its seriously like having four planes in one.I am going to order a second one to store for a rainy day because I just really like this plane. It won't win any races but its big enough to handle some wind, slow enough to be forgiving and agile enough to let me try new more difficult manuevers and tricks. If you are looking for a great and I mean great plane to get started with, buy this and do yourself a favor and spend another 30bucks for the gyro. The construction is pretty solid, the connections are heavier gauge than I expected and everything feels tight and well built. I also like that it does not need enormously expensive batteries. 3s2500 40c is what I am using and they do great. I got a 8 minute flight out of it at about 60% power all the way around the pattern.Less time fixing and more time flying is what this plane can give a new RC pilot. its a keeper and a great value.

I got this for a friend of mine wanting to learn RC Flight.....I've been flying for over 25 years and always learning something new with each different plane flown. I must say... with the available 4 different configurations and flight characteristics of this plane I think it is the best and world class trainer on the market and also offers room to expand to low wing and different wheel configuration styles learning without having to invest more money in a new plane. This plane hand down handles beautifully for the beginner and is equally fun for the advanced pilot as well. This is definately a great all-in-one starter plane that will give you hours upon hours of enjoyment without breaking the bank. Free Wing Nailed it spot on with this one, Thumbs up guys :)

The Pandora 4-n-1 plane is a great plane, flies excellent was easy to assemble and easy to switch wheel and wing configurations,, i have several planes and this one is by far the best one yet. i love the way it takes off and lands on grass and dirt with the larger wheels and tail dragger wheel set up...motion rc has been the best company to deal with also thanks..

Received this quicker than my earlier purchases which is much appreciated. The manual is an abortion and MotionRC should exert greater influence on the maker to improve it so that beginners can benefit from what otherwise is a wonderful model. If you've assembled RC planes before this one goes together easily and the manual is not needed. There is the usual problem with sorting out the screws and figuring out where they go, but there is a table in the manual which does help. I chose the low wing configuration and it went together in less than an hour, battery ready for flight. The plane flies beautifully with just a click or two of trim and has no bad habits. I have just ordered softer wheels for the hard foam ones that are standard to eliminate bouncing. Attention MotionRC I went to you first. Why not carry them as an option? Even with the lousy manual, the plane deserves 5 stars because of its very attractive price, the precision workmanship, excellent foam construction, and great flight characteristics.
