“I purchased my Pandora a couple months ago and have found the plane to be very well constructed and of good quality. The ability to switch between high/low wing and tail-dragger / tricycle gear is nice. I have found the front gear in tricycle mode a little weak, though I was able to reinforce the gear mounting with no problems.I actually prefer to fly in tail-dragger configuration. I found that you can use the wheels / pants from the rear tricycle gear on the front mounting wire. This gives the plane a more sporty appearance and it will still handle short grass with no trouble.I wanted a little more power, so I installed a 40 amp ESC and 12x6 APC prop. Motor is stock. I fly this configuration on 2200mAh Admiral 4S batteries. Much better performance, though still very forgiving flight characteristics. ESC, motor, and battery are barely warm. This is my third Freewing from Motion RC and I'm quite happy with each one. All fly very well and are built with good materials.”
“Upon receiving and opening the FreeWing Pandora (red) I ordered from MotionRC , I was more than pleasantly surprised at the size and quality of the model. The build was easy and I actually flew the plane this past weekend no trimming needed in air , the Pandora flew great very happy , I ve been in the hobby 4 years and really never had much stick time . I do have a simulator I also own about 10 to 12 other planes all warbirds all from Motion . after gaining the confidence I needed flying the Freewing Pandora I,m sure more stick time and other flight s are not far behind You can check out my videos at Jim Bonito Rc Obsessions thanks Motion”
“I purchased this plane a month ago and it arrived as it was suppose to. But there were parts missing, which Motion has been great in sending out the mission parts promptly. I haven't been able to fly the plane yet so I can't rate the plane itself, it looks great, but I'm still waiting on a servo that failed when I went to do the system check. I would've given it a 5 star rating if it hadn't been for all that, the rating really is for Motion, they back up their products and give great support. I'll be back!”
“Bought this aircraft as my next plane after an Apprentice. Some parts are quality, but the landing gear in a tail-dragger config is very weak. Went off into the weeds upon initial take-off and broke the pants and the small mounting plastic parts. The rest of the plane isOk but you better get a 'parts pac' because you are going to loose the mounting screws for the wing at some time or another and you can't find them at the local hardware store. Put on a bigger set of wheels for grass and will soon put on a larger prop to get a little more speed out of it as I progress. Also used thew flaps to get used to it when my p-38 comes in.”
“I purchased the Pandora after returning to the hobby from a 14 year hiatus and it was a great way to regain confidence in my piloting skills. The Pandora is a perfect first airplane. The all foam construction is tough and well designed, and can withstand the abuse of a first time pilot. The design is simple and well thought out giving the pilot the option to change from high wing to low wing as his skill level asvances. The Pandora comes with a complete hardware package allowing the change from tail dragged to tricycle gear with either wing configuration. I would highly recommend this plane to a beginner, however the construction and set up instructions are useless and you will need the help of an experienced pilot to get it flight ready. I purchased the red color scheme but still found the plane to sky contrast unsatisfactory. I removed the 12als on the wing washed it with alcohol followed with a very light sanding then painted the top of the wing solid red with Rustolium. I also placed two 3 inch navy blue stripes on the underside of each wing using Monocote trim. I also painter the cowl red just for fun. These changes make the plane stand out is the sky and provide a much better visual reference. After about two months of flying the speed controller failed and the great people at Motion R/C quickly resolved the problem and sent me a new one at no charge. The Pandora is an excellent trainer, that holds up well to moderate wind and can take a lot of abuse. I installed the optional flaps and found they have little to no effect on this slow flyer. I would recommend the Pandora as a first time airplane provided you have some help with initial setup if you are completely new to the hobby. The people at Motion R/C are knowledgeable and willing to help.”
“I've owned this plane for over a year, I have had many flights in both the high and low wing configuration. I have enjoyed this plane as it was my introduction into the world of RC flying. I have nothing but praise for this plane, it's very forgiving in the high wing config and a little more challenging in the low wing. I highly recommend this plane to anyone new to the sport.”
“I finally took this out and did a maiden after several failures with build, taxing & takeoff. Initially, there was a problem with missing parts which I re-ordered. Then, with the tri-cycle landing gear, I had issues with the nose wheel always wanting to turn left (I fly in a pretty thick grass field). We tried compensating with right rudder, but since I'm not that good, it didn't work outThen, I switched to the tail-dragger combo and this too would turn right, but somehow managed with some rudder and a little more throttle. Once, she's up in the air, it's a great flyer. What I've noticed is with lower rates, it's hard to get her to climb and gets very slow for my liking. With 100% rates, it's far better. Still practicing smooth landings :-)”
“THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THE WAY THE PUSH RODS ARE INSTALLED, WOULD BE BETTER IF THEY USED CLEVISES INSTEAD OF SCREW DOWN ROD HOLDERS.BUT I DID ENJOY THE EXCELENT SERVICE FROM YOUR STAFF.”
