“I love the plane, but some of the parts don't align and are a bit off. The top black engine nacell cover has excess mold plastic that you have to cut away and the plastic cover is thin and will crack if not extremely careful. Should not have left the factory that way.”

“One of the best values you will find. This is a built up scale model with excellent construction. With twin 3550-960KV motors on 3S 5000mAh lipos, it flies in a scale manner with 6:00 minutes of flight time and plenty of reserve. It flies great off grass and water. The floats don't have a rudder so I used differential thrust and opposing motor rotations. I haven't tried 4S as there isn't a need. I'm impressed with NEXA.”

“Nice looking model but some of the parts did not fit good, ie the bolt holes for the wing bolts had to be opened up more, the bolt holes in the metal landing gear had to be drilled out, the servo tray openings in the wing (4) were too small, had to enlarge for the servo to fit and no way to secure the landing gear fairings, so modified that.”

“I knew I had to get this model the moment I saw it, as being a proud Canadian, it really appealed to my national pride. Upon unboxing the kit, I found the quality to be reasonably good, but there have been numerous issues that needed to be corrected, or improved upon. The most notable one is the horizontal stabilizer, which if installed without modification, will be several degrees out of line with the main wing. This is evident in most of the videos you see of the aircraft and even though it will fly without the fix, it will fly so much better with the correct alignment. Next, the fuselage panels to which the front struts for the float set are to be attached is quite weak, so I reinforced the area with two layers of 1/8 ply, so if there happens to be the occasional hard landing, we won't be ripping out the sides of the plane. In terms of the ESCs, the 45A versions that the retailer recommends are too close to the limit and I actually had them swap them out for 65A units, which gives one a much greater margin of capacity. I've replaced all of the kit hardware for better quality, as I wasn't too impressed with what came with the kit. I also added cooling vents on the engine nacelles, as the cowls take in a lot of cool air, but there's not really any place for it to go. I added nice 3D printed pieces to vent the heated air that look very scale and add to not only the look of the plane, but it's overall performance and security while flying. Overall, a good kit, but taking a lot of extra time to improve it has paid huge dividends and will keep the plane in the air for many years to come. It does look amazing, once completed, especially on floats and having the luxury of a summer home on a lake, will see it in the air over the water very frequently.”

“The main issue I have with this model is that when flying it, it needs a lot of trim down on the elevator, otherwise it will keep climing. I needed close to -100% of trim to give you an idea how much (which is probably 3mm of down elevator). With such a trim for flying full speed (65 mph) when you come for landing the trim is too much and it has big tendency to go down. In my opinion the angle of the wing is not correct. I have correct CG, and I tried experimenting with motor angles, and it did not help. Sure I can have flight modes and try to setup 2 different trims. I actually bought 2 of these airplanes to make sure the 2-nd one is done perfectly, now that I know what to look for based on the first one I assabmled. The first one required a lot of aileron trim, and less down elevator trim. By the way the wing angle is different between the two Twin Otters I have, when I try to put wing from Twin Otter 1 to my Twin Otter 2. This is my third Nexa model (C-47, Boanaza, Twin Otter), and the only one I liked is Bonanza. I would say you have 25% that Nexa airplane will fly well. I think I am done with NEXA (VQ models). I am using the recomended motors and propellers. I had to use two 3 cell 5000mAH LiPos in order to get correct CG. If you want to use one LiPo you will need to position it so much to the front, that you will need to build a LiPo table in the nose of the airplane, and you will need to remove the seets so you can strap the LiPo where the doors are.”

“Plane was very easy to build. As mentioned by someone else the only problem I had was the front seat was not glued in place. But as I needed the space for my batteries didn’t present that big of an issue. I did design and 3-D print an engine mount they made things much easier.Have been running it with twin battery packs one for each motor and been getting 16 minutes flight time and still landing with 30% battery left. Looking forward to flying it from a lake and the snow.”

“This is my second review. See my first review above from almost 2 years ago. I have about 75 flights on the plane and it is absolutely fantastic. Very stable. Can use full flaps on landing with no problem. Plane does not porpoise. In fact, it barely climbs when I have full flaps but slows significantly but is still very stable. I may get a second one just to have a back up.”
