“I'll add to this review when I've flown it a few times.Being new to the whole world of electric powered gliders the first thing to say is I'm extremely impressed with the way this all went together. The following points are not showstoppers but could be improved The packaging obviously works, at least my glider was undamaged. There was no manual but that's not a problem since manuals are available on line and there are tons of videos anyway. The wing and flap servo rods connecting to the controls' horns could be slightly better positioned. They don't quite line up. I don't think it will compromise the movements but something the factory should pay attention to and just move the positioning of the servos (or horns) slightly. The manual said a 1 mm Allen key was required to adjust the elevator and rudder rods where they fit through the servo connection. For some reason 1 mm keys are hard to find, the normal range seems to be 0.9mm then 1.5 mm. Not having one I bought another set which did have a 1mm key only to find the manual is wrong and a 1.5mm key is required. So I wasted a pound or two unnecessarily there.Using a small screw for the servo hatch seems a bit basic bearing in mind all the good design that has gone into this. Some sort of pinning mechanism, like the canopy latch might have been better and there's nothing to lose. Mentioning the canopy latch, it's just a piece of metal rod which is uncomfortable to retract against a powerful spring. Some sort of faired knob fitted to the rod end would look better and avoid the rod digging into a finger. The rudder horns and connection are built in completely. A nice idea on the face of it but repair or maintenance could be a problem meaning cutting away some of the foam.As many have mentioned the spinner coming loose under breaking is a problem. I tested it several times and each time it did spin free. I'm not sure why the instructions say not to use Loctite since the surfaces in contact are both metal. I've found that putting a small square of electricians tape with a small hole across the spinner's threaded nut and then screwing on the spinner acts in a similar way to a nylock nut and seems to provide sufficient friction to stop the unwinding.”

“I thought the power using the recommended 3S battery was okay, but not great. I pulled the stock 30amp esc and put in a Mantis 35amp esc and run a 4S 1600 battery in my Shrike, which seems to be a good power and weight combo. I also put thread lock on the screw to the prop collet despite the manual saying not to since way too many people said they were losing their props and spinner because the screw came loose. Also glued in the horizontal stabilizer. With the 4S battery and stock motor my Shrike will now blast vertically into the sky and will not slow down. I do short full power bursts of only 5-10 seconds (which is plenty for altitude) and have had no issues at all with the stock motor or 35amp esc. Upon landing both are not even warm to the touch. For me, the Shrike went from an okay powered glider to a big time smile on my face glider! I can't help but laugh as to how fast the Shrike goes to high altitude using a 4S battery. Just plane fun!!!”

“It has a few faults that have not been corrected by Motion RC- I will get right to the Point - None of the so called reviews who get sent free ones have said anything about these points ..but I am going to do so as I purchased this myself.1. Both the Aileron horns are out of alignment with the servo arms by about 5mm - unless you remove the horns from the Ailerons and re attach them the pushrod ends up at quite an angle and puts a stress on the servo and links.2. The spinner is a stupid design - I tested the power (lucky for me I had the prop facing away from me) as when I stopped the motor the spinner came spinning off and the prop flew forward , It could have hit me had it been facing my.... The Manual says not to use thread lock on it - so I used Foam tack to stiffen the threads..only way to stop it..3. On Mine - might just be mine - but the Port Led is NOT working - (it was blown) - these are 10mm Large Leds - and you need to cut foam to replace them 4. IMPORTANT - The manual says that you just slot the elevator in (no glue) DO NOT do this - it can and has slipped out during flights (other people) - my advise is GLUE IT INI expected better QA from MotionRC especially as this is an Inhouse Brand.”

“I have flown this Gilder approx. 40 times & Rate it a 5 star winner. It's an Ass Kicking plane....not for the starting R/C folks...but you already kew that ...didn't you!!!I will be purchasing another one for a back up!Please email me when they are in stock!!!!Dave Watson”
“Over all the plane looks nice and it flies ok. The manual is clear. But the propeller and spinner are not ok. When you stop the motor the prop and spinner will loosen and you are lost both.Or they must change the screw thread the other way around or the motor has to turn the other way and a different propeller. It is a fact that many have problem with it and Motion RC did NOTHING to change that. That is bad. The fact they choose to ignore that problem is not a good sign. And what are the costs for that change? NOTHING. So? Motion RC? Change that PLEASE!!!!!!!!”

“Great looker, goes together easily. Overcame the known spinner problem by wrapping a large rubber band around the spinner which gives much better purchase. Had to order 2 motors as the first was hitting the magnets so hard that it nearly stopped. Trouble is the second wasn’t much better. Would have given 5 stars otherwise”
