“with flying fields closed we headed down the street to a open slope with two Shrikes. within seconds both lost their spinner, so we went back to the house and found nuts that fit on both. after that, we had a great time! with full flaps the nose pitches up, but you can mix that out with down elevator, hold down elevator, or a bit of both. be advised, this little thing lands hot but is easily controlled with the flaps down. have fun with yours! looking forward to M RC getting spinners back in stock. I do suggest that when hooking up the elevator you loosen the collar on the servo so the control rod can move freely and its easier to connect. flew with a 1800 3s....never touched the trims.”

“This is a tough and capable aircraft, even after several mishap repairs. The install is simple with the on-line manual and video. However, I'll add my encouragement to the others for additional securing of the propeller and nose spinner. First flight, my entire propeller assembly flew off, despite meticulous attention to tightening the two set screws onto the flat grooves on the motor shaft. Added some Loc-Tite, then next failure was the spinner cap flying off when throttle is cut. Added Loc-Tite there as well. I also added a touch of glue for the horizontal stab after a crash weakened the attach point. For care-free flying, I'd recommend using a basic 3-axis gyro to help calm the movements from choppy air.”

“Well packaged, quick and easy to assemble, Good flying plane, very stable. Love the quick removable wings for transport with the built in wing servo connectors. Super nice touch for a model in this price range. Highly recommended. The only thing to note is the prop nut spinner does require some loc- tight on the threads or it will come off eventually during flight no matter how tight you think you have it. Too bad the designers didn't think to either make the prop shaft and nut left Hand threaded. Or spin the motor the opposite direction with CCW rotation prop? Then this wouldn't happen.Overall I really like it.”

“Just maidened my new Shrike with an Admiral 2200 3 Cell. It is really a gentle flying airplane with long flight times. I followed the advice of others and used a drop of Locktite on the spinner and had no issues. I found it impossible to get the retainers for the ailerons and flaps to snap firmly over the control rods so I ended up using additional pieces of fuel line to lock them down. The COG was perfect with the battery as far forward as I could get it. I added part of an epoxy stirring stick as a bulkhead right after the motor to preclude any possibility the battery wires could be chaffed by the motor.”

“This is a GREAT electric glider. Yesterday I was able to get a 20+ minute flight on a 3S 2200mah battery with the help of strong winds. There are only two things I would change. First, the spinner design is horrible. As there is nothing to hold the nose spinner on other than hand tightening, I ended up trading it out for a Radian spinner. The base of the Radian spinner is a little larger than the original Shrike spinner, but the performance was not affected from what I could tell. The second thing I would change, well not change, but add, is the horizontal stab. Since there are no screws or glue to hold it in place, I found that there was a little wiggle room when using the rudder. Nothing too concerning, but I gorilla glued it in place for my own peace of mind.Other than those two recommendations, I have had a great time flying this plane. With a light to strong wind and the flaps all the way down you can get great flight times. You can also get great performance and speed with the flaps up.”

“I still love this plane but have to point out what I think is a design flaw. I mentioned excessive wing flex in the first review. I've now flown the plane many times and the wing flex is getting worse. I'm now very careful not to do maneuvers that put high loading on the wings. There is just too much power for the wings on this plane to handle. I will stiffen the wings before I fly it again. Still a great glider for cruise around and look for thermals.”

“Lost my spinner 15 seconds into maiden flight. Luckly, the plane glides fine and I could land it with no damage. The spinner is simply a bad design. When the motor stops the spinner just keeps going and simply unwinds, no matter how tight you screw it in. Contacted MotionRC, and they recommended I hold the motor from inside with an allen wrench to apply more torque and apply glue to threads (no loctite) to keep the spinner in place. Of course, none of this is in the manual or build video, but it's still my fault that I lost my spinner. Nevermind who pays for the spinner (it's cheap), but it's backordered until who knows when.Have been flying with a non-folding 9x5 prop and the plane flies fine. Set-it up with full-house controls and crow brakes work great. Just have to be careful with landings.”
