“I am very happy with the Shrike. It is a fun and stable plane. I bought it to practice for setting up a 'full house' glider wing and be able to test how different setups (camber, reflex, full span ailerons, etc) are programmed and effect performance. The plane is so stable I can comfortably make changes and not worry about pushing a bad outcome. I have also set it up for crow which makes for great control on the landing approach.I couldn't give the product 5 stars because of a couple items: 1)I did not receive a horizontal stabilizer with the original kit and the carbon spar was warped and made it difficult to assemble the wing (actually harder to pull back apart also). Motion RC did replace the parts, but I had to wait another week to get the stabilizer. 2) The spinner does fly off on my plane when you throttle back. I tried several times mounting the folding prop, but each time it flew off - I am very glad others had warned about this issue. I understand the threaded brass insert in the spinner cone is supposed to be 'positive grip', but I ended up needing a couple drops of blue LocTite and it worked great to keep the spinner on the plane.A couple of things that were fine for me, but worth noting. The instruction manual is available on line, it was ok with me that it was not in the box. I could not get the full recommended throw for the control surfaces without moving the pushrods in on the control horns and still was not able to get the Control Throws noted in instructions Step 10.Lastly; step 11 shows a picture of the CG being measured back from the front fairing of the wing where it goes into the fuselage. The instructions note 65mm aft of the wing leading edge and I find that to work much better (for me). I have balanced the plane with 1800 and 2200 packs and they both provide a nice flight with the balance point measured back from the leading edge at the root and not from the foam fairing which is plugged into the fuselage.Again; a fun plane to fly and I'm looking forward to taking it out slope soaring next.”

“To start I have to give great props to Motion RC! My plane was apparently abducted by a porch pirate and Motion RC was able to send a replacement in about a week. Thanks Motion RC. Once I had the plane, it was very easy to assemble. The only critiques I would give to the assembly is maybe to add a little glue to the horizontal stab, add reinforcement to foam where the spike goes through the wings to lock them in, and to switch to a stronger blade mount.Just to clarify, I have not had an issue with the horizontal stab (other than slight movement when operating the elevator) or the wings coming loose. Just seems that where the spike goes through would be a potential weak spot. I am 3d printing some plastic inserts to strengthen the wing locking. The one issue I have had is the spinner. It is very hard to get a good grip on the spinner to tighten it enough to keep it on. There is just not that much to grab onto. The plane flies great! And soars great! But I have had the spinner come off two or three times. I believe I'm not able to get it tight enough and then while flying, I stop throttle to soar and the sudden stop of the esc break is causing it to unspin itself. Might just have to put some locktite on it.Other than that, it's a great flying plane (looks great too). Performs great! Especially gliding!”

“Well, I only have a few flights on the shrike so far but all of them have been an absolute joy. I purchased this for my 10 year old son to start learning to fly on a buddy-box setup. For a receiver, I had the old receiver out of my Eflight Cessna 150 laying around and that worked great. As an added bonus, it has the safe select and it transforms the shrike into a perfect learning aircraft. With a mix of motor and gliding we are getting more than 15 minute flights out of the shrike. With a couple of batteries, it maximizes the flying time to attention span ratio with my son. Here's the rub. Like most folks, we have had the spinner/prop combo come off. Luckily, I read the reviews before taking it out so we ran it up in the front yard. One abrupt transition from near full to zero throttle and the prop was off. We have to be extra careful on how fast we drop the throttle when flying. There are remedies for this and we haven't had a problem in the air yet, but it's disconcerting. The one other concern is where the wing spar goes through the fuselage. The hole for the spar, on our plane, is actually a C and not a hole with material on all sides. I'm unsure if this will be an issue in the long-run.We are flying the shrike like the powered glider it is and having a blast. We'll probably do something about the spinner/prop problem sooner than later but we have a workaround in place in the interim. Overall, an almost perfect aircraft for the money... almost.-Ben”

“It is fair to give this model 4 starts, although I crashed it today. The foam on this plane is stronger than those of e-flite's. The build quality is good, the tolerance is small. The plane itself feels substantial, not floaty. That are all good things. One not so good things is there was no manual. I am more used to manual than watching lengthy video. So I just went ahead assembling it and went out to fly. I naively assumed the gyro was completely plug and play without really paying attention to gyro, I also accepted the awkward position of using BIND button to activate the stabilization mode. The first four flights all end up with crashes!Talked with support, and learned that I needed to take care of gyro. It turned out that my previous gyro setting was wrong. With a lot of confidence, I went out for the fifth try. This time I got it fly! But it ended up with crash though. When I launched it, I notice the model flied up and down quickly several times, I guess it was because that I set the elevator gain too big! The plane is definitely more agile than my previous glider, the e-flite conscendo.I will buy the second one, with all the dumb lessons I learned, hopefully it will fly beautifully.”

“The two shipments I received ( since I ordered a separate set of wings and prop adapters) were excellent and fast .. I've been ordering kits for years and the Shrikes packing box was nearly perfect. The precision of the foam fit and joiner/spar design in particular with built in servo/led leads connector saves a TON of time at the field while putting the wings on.. Really like the fact the Y cable allows for easy separation via connector and use of separate Aileron and Flap servos...all that is Excellent.. however the quality of the foam is poor /very fragile /brittle Styrofoam, and this type of foam will scratch dent and crack much like Balsa in any hard crash because its so brittle. .. so far my grandson and I haven't crashed it.. The only really frustrating problem was with the Prop adapter assy. 30 seconds into the maiden the spinner came off and it was lost forever in the very tall grass.. so had to wait a another week to fly it, Then I found that even with the spinner VERY tight on the prop shaft, the prop would still spin until I found a 1/16th fairly thick washer that fit over shaft and the added enough material to allow compression to hold teh assembly together and stop the prop from slipping. Tech Support via e-mail has been good and very responsive , I like the Chat function a lot.. the canopy and overall air-frame design and the decals in particular are stellar..”

“I would say a quality product overall. I would like to see if they produce Warbird's or Sport aircraft of the same value range and quality !! Good Stuff, Good Price !! Keep it up Guys !!Rick, From the great white north !! Being as we still have 2 ft. of snow up here , I have not flown it as yet !!”

“This gem has been thought out very well. Attention to small things, like access to wing servo arms, easy hatch lock, plenty of battery room etc Flies on rails and is a great slope soarer too! Fits in the car without having to take apart. Very happy!”
