“Worked straight out of the box with no problems. Easy to link to the app to setup, view and download images. Only used it for a week so far but battery level still shows 100% despite not much sun and have captured images and videos of birds, foxes and squirrels already. Everyone impressed by the image quality.”
“The camera was quite easy to set up. The quality of the photos & videos is excellent. I am now teaching myself video editing so I can stitch all the videos (that are interesting) for a specific date together. I am really enjoying this camera!”
“Absolutely love this camera.Ive just been using it for a few days and already I'm stunned at the wildlife we have in the garden that I didn't know about. The camera is easy to set up and use, it's brilliant. Just wish I'd bought one sooner.”
“Disappointed that "wifi enabled" doesn't mean you can connect it to your home wifi and view the camera from anywhere. Instead it means that you can get physically close to the camera and view/download/configure with an app on your smartphone. I was expecting it to be more like the NatureSpy Bird Cam Pro which is "properly" wifi enabled. And I find I have to download a different app rather than using the NatureSpy one which is very good.
Video and photos look to be decent quality. The trigger time for video is a bit slow so you miss the first couple of seconds of any action. Build quality of the unit itself is good. I'll see how it performs as its out there 24x7, especially at night.”
Hey Andrew,
Thanks for the review. The webpage for this product says that the WiFi is local WiFi only in several places. The 3rd main 'features' section, entitled 'WiFi Managed', specifically says;
"You can connect to the Helarctos wirelessly, via a local WiFi connection.
When within 25-30ft of the camera, use the App to connect, download footage, change settings and see a live view."
The 3rd FAQ regarding the WiFi also says exactly how this works. There are 5 separate mentions of the local WiFi, including in the short description right at the top.
For an internet-connected WiFi product, that would be the WiFi WildCam 2. Its not a problem if you want to swap your camera to one of these - just get in touch with our team and we can sort.
Given it is mentioned so much, including quite explicitly how the WiFi works, I'm thinking you've maybe been too excited and clicked the 'Buy' button before reading the product info! If you would be so kind as to reconsider your review and rating that would be great, but no problem if not.
If there is anything you need, just pop us an email.
Thanks!
James
“We've only been using it for a few days yet, but it seems to be living up to the specifications. It is really useful to be able to change the setting via bluetooth/wifi on the mobile phone. We are playing with the settings to see what happens with the results. The images are really good so far. It was charged for 3 - 4 hours when it arrived and it is still showing 100% with the help of just a little watery sunshine.”
“This camera has rejuvenated my love of trail cameras as I had almost stopped using them as I hated bying batteries. The solar panel works efficiently, even in shaded areas. The 4k video footage is excellent quality with good definition and also night clips are evenly lit with IR. The app work well and it is great to be able to view the set-up on my phone and collect clips without disturbing a site by just loggin on some distance away. A big thumbs up from me!”
