“This is my third Helartos i have purchased, the picture quality is superb i only use them set at 1080 hd as my elderly pc struggles with 4k editing, the audio is excellent quality also .The first two i have were both purchased at the end of March this year both have been out in the woods continuously since purchase and are still showing a healthy charge on their internal batteries which is quite a cost saving on batteries, that cant be bad”
“Tiny control buttons on the camera.
Takes an age to pick up connection to view images. Often failing.
Remember to switch back to home wi-fi after viewing images if using within home range.
But good images and video. With solar panel, will be good for use away from home.
But WildCam2 is so much simpler and quicker for use in garden.”

“Disappointed that the sales hype over the Helarctos wasn't matched in reality as it seems no different to previous similar models that I have used. Night vision clarity is not particularly great as it only picks up animals with any detail that are very close to the camera.”
Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the camera has not lived up to expectations. We're really proud of the fact that we've been able to keep the Helarctos affordable while including useful features like the built-in solar panel and local WiFi; however, if it's not what you are looking for, you are more than welcome to get in contact with our team. If you'd like to share any of your night vision clips with us, we'd be happy to take a look to check the clarity.
“I bought this NatureSpy Helarctos camera in the hope of capturing evidence of the nature of a regular nocturnal visitor to our garden. The camera has provided some excellent video proof – of a large, healthy badger who likes to drop by nightly. The camera has worked well in both heavy rain and deep frost, and I've found it relatively straightforward to operate. The quality of the captured video is excellent.”
“This is my second camera of the same type. I now use one in the back and front garden. The App makes things very easy to set up and to check field of view and to see if any photos/videos have been triggered. The set-up on the camera itself is more fiddly. The solar panel charges well even in fairly shady areas, and so far I have not needed to replace the AA batteries - they have been in constant use overnight in the first camera since new in March 2025.”
“This is very easy to set up and the videos are of good quality.
This is a replacement for two Browning trail cameras, the first failed during the warranty period and the replacement, a recon force edge btc-7e, failed after a few years, possibly due to water ingress.
I decided on the Helarctos because it has a proper ip rating.
After two days, it is picking up considerably more movement than the Browning ever did (the Browning didn't pick up mice and small birds which the Helarctos has).
The settings are much more comprehensive than the Browning's allowing for fine tuning of the recording period. I accept that technology has moved forward but this is more sensitive for capturing wildlife. While I am still playing to find the optimum settings, it recorded 309 videos in two days compared to days when the Browning didn't record anything from the same position.
The angle of view is much greater than the Browning's.
The solar charging and wifi are useful to see the settings and to check that it is recording, though I do not preview the recordings on a device.
Most cameras have the tripod socket in the base so that there is a good surface area when connecting to a tripod. While the tripod thread on the Helarctos is infinitely better than that on the Browning, it is still too small and should be the shape and size of a Manfrotto quick release plate to provide a suitable surface area.”
