“We are still learning to use the mill but we are milling some beautiful pine lumber.
The mill does work as advertised but we have a long way to go to get as proficient as Dave.
We just had a lesson on being sure the drive belt stays tight. A new belt always stretches and
must be periodically tightened. We are cutting 12 ft. logs and now realize that a 4 ft extension
would make things much easier. In short the mill will serve our needs for years to come and
Norwood will be our lifelong partner.”
“This will be the second summer of using the 36v2 and have never owned or run any other mill so have no comparison to others.
I only use my mill for personal needs and it serves me very well, there are a couple small modifications I did myself after getting to know what works well and what doesn't. Have had to call customer service a couple times and everything went well as far as time frames for replacement parts and warranty. Overall enjoy the mill and does a good job if everything is set up right.”
“The HD36V2 has been a great mill so far. Assembly was fairly straight forward but I'd recommend watching the Norwood assembly videos for a few tips to make things easier instead of trying to rely solely on the manual.
Minor user error problems have popped up (don't pull the blad guide too far out) but all have been relatively easy to deal with. The machine has broken in nicely and provides smooth, level cuts once it's dialed in. Pine, oak, ash, black walnut and cherry have all been run through with great results.
The mill tows nicely and sets up with minimal fuss on site.
The modular nature of the machine and the ability to add parts as I learn the mill and what makes sense for our set up was key to chioosing Norwood.
Customer service has been positive and helpful throughout. Zero complaints on that side of things.
Only real complaint is there were more non-North American made parts than expected. Most weren't important structurally or for millng use, and I understand there will be some imported parts, but I'm also sure a non-Chinese source for the axle and wheels (among other parts) wouldn't be hard to find.
Overall, I'm happy with the HD36V2 and look forward to the time I have available to mill.”
“The engine has the power to go through the toughest woods. The Saber Tooth Blades that Norwood provides are outstanding. The problem is, the holding dogs are sloppy, the adjustment screws to move them in and out have rusted out, that they are permanently attached and one of the plastic turning knobs broke off. The cable system that brings the saw head up and down is so finicky that, no matter how much I adjust or re-adjust it never seems right. The plastic height gage, that has the red line for the size increments broke, because I pulled my cover off and it got snagged and now I have tape to keep it in place. I know that is not anyone’s fault but mine, but it seems to me as a semi heavy duty machine, that has hundreds and or thousands of pounds placed on to it, plastic parts doesn’t make any sense. The ceramic blade guides are also so finicky, that adjusting them almost always, seems to be happening. The painting of the of the panels are so poorly done, that paint are flaking off. Now I’m not talking about the scratching of the paint, but the actual paint was never properly applied, because of the lack of preparation done to the metal. All in all I’m a bit disappointed, and I kind of wish I had purchased the TimberKing saw mill.”
“It's been over a year and the mill still isn't completely built. I had problems with wrong & defective parts and didn't get any assistance for weeks until I complained on your FB page. I wanted to return it but was told I couldn't and that some guy (your expert sawyer I think) was going to do whatever was needed to get my mill built. After I agreed to try this route, I was never contacted again even though I tried many times. I will take some blame at this point as I have done nothing for months to try to resolve this issue. Fortunately some birds have built a nest in the mill and they are enjoying it. Just responding since you asked.”
