“Very easy to install especially if your current "sink trim ring" is in presentable condition. My trim ring was okay but its rubber skirt was a mess. Good news is that a new skirt is provided with the unit and it does not requite removal of the trim ring to install the new one.I wish it was a little quieter. My sink is composite (inherently quieter) so I expected a little better. A stainless sink will likely be a bit noisier yet. Just a comment. Doesn't invalidate the overall goodness of the unit.”
“This disposal is an okay value for the money, but you should expect to replace it every five to six years. I have just installed my third one with the first two lasting about that long. With what I would consider normal use they eventually start to drip water and leak. Luckily they are very easy to install especially with the included plug; literally just unplug it detach it from the sink mount and put the new one in place, connect the hose and drain. Can be done in under a half an hour by anyone.”
“As a retired professional plumber whom has installed hundreds, I have to say the Badger 5 is the most popular and economical disposal on the market. It's been on the market with no noticable changes for decades. Durability could be improved on, as corrosion of the innner metal basket causes leakage through the housing limiting life span to 5-8 years, but overall I think Badger 5 is the best value. Hard to beat the price combined with fast delivery.”

“The most difficult part of installation is lifting the 15 pound disposer on to the mounting bracket under the sink. There is just not a lot of room to leverage your arms. What I found works is to prop up the disposer with a box or other space filler so the disposer lip is very close to the bracket. Then it becomes easy to lift the small distance to the bracket, twist, and lock in place. Everything is working great.”
“The plastic, molded upper housing just isn't durable. Multiple cracks developed, leaking water. It has maybe 4 years worth of use (it sat for several years while the house was vacant). I hope the JB Weld will hold it until I can get a good disposal.”
“It works well and has almost no noise in comparison to the old one I had. The only problem I had was with the wire. It has a plug while I don't have an outlet. I tried to release the cord so that I could connect it to my own wire from my old disposer, but it was sealed and I couldn't release it (in videos on YouTube you can open a small cover and release the wires, but now it's impossible). So I had to cut the plug and connect the wires to my old ones.”
