“The plastic, molded upper housing just isn't durable. Multiple cracks developed, leaking water. It has maybe 4 years worth of use (it sat for several years while the house was vacant). I hope the JB Weld will hold it until I can get a good disposal.”

“Since this Insinkerator Badger was a replacement of an 18 year old Insinkerator Badger, the installation was relatively easy. The big problem was that the discharge tube was "L" shaped for attaching to a "J" trap. In my situation, the existing discharge tube carries over to a "J" trap on the other side of the sink and requires a straight discharge tube. I'm guessing that many other homes also have double sinks, but only one "J" trap. When I called Customer Service at Insinkerator, they said they could not help me and that I should search out a plumbing supply house. My small town in western NC is a little short on plumbing supply houses. After several hours of effort, I was able to locate the requisite straight discharge tube and install it with ease.”

“Seems I replace these every 3 - 5 years. Not a heavy user but they rust and the bearing seal leaks and they eventually seize up. (nothing to do with jamming or needing the tool that frees things up by spinning the inside with the tool.) It's the best bang for the buck and insinkerator is a well known brand. Unless you spend 4 times as much money for a better unit, this is the one. (why would you, when you can buy 2 of these in the same time frame as a good one, for less money). Basically this unit works very well while it works :). Easy install, everything is included (except electrical tape to be extra safe taping over the wire nuts. ~ RECOMMENDED). IF you have never had a disposal in place you will need the electrical cord to plug in the wall or wire etc to hard wire it. If it's a replacement, you are good to go.”
