“It was very easy to understand instructions and install by myself. I would say I am not handy at all but was able diy this smoothly. It comes with electric cord attached which was very convenient for me. It is little noisier than my previous one though but works perfectly and efficiently.”
“I replaced my builder-grade Badger 1 (only 2 years old) for this, thinking that this Badger 5 would be quieter. Nope! This is just as loud if not louder. A note on installation: if you install this yourself and you own a dishwasher, make sure you remove the knockout plug on this unit that the dishwasher pipe connects to. Otherwise, your airgap will flood. Remove the knockout plug completely with a flat screwdriver and hammer, not a drill. The drill may not remove it entirely, and your airgap will flood.”
“Product works good. plumbingsupplyandmore. sent the wrong one i ordered with cord. They sent without i had to take the cord off the old one. plumbingsupplyandmore. wouldn't send just the cord.”
“This is my fourth Badger 5 in 20 years. The previous three all failed in the same way - the steel grind chamber eventually rusts through and water starts dripping from the bottom. I could probably get twice the life out of a better model, but at four times the price it just doesn't make economic sense. For what I put down the drain, the single-stage grinder works just fine - I don't need it to grind bones. Better models might be quieter, but I've never found the Badger 5 to be excessively loud - especially for an appliance that is used less than a minute per day.”
“Overall: excellent product. Lacking in quality control though. The drain port for the dishwasher was completely blocked with plastic. Drilled a whole through the plastic in the tube and it worked fine.”
