“I ordered one with power cord. But the one I got doesn't have even though the sticker on the box says with cord. Fortunately, I was able to use the power cord from the replaced old one. Other than that, everything else works as expected.”
“I recently bought a home that had an Insinkerator Badger 5 food disposal in the kitchen. I noticed it was dripping from the bottom, and a quick Google told me that meant the internal seals were busted and it was time to get a new one. I checked the serial number for the manufacturing date of the old model -- over 12 years ago!!! The longevity of the product, plus the universal mounting system, made the choice to choose Insinkerator again obvious.I ordered the new Badger 5 (with power cord pre-attached, so I didn't need to do any electrical wiring) and it was delivered in 2 days. It is in a compact box that is well padded by styrofoam inside. It's pretty heavy -- about 14 lbs? I opened up the printed instructions and man, whoever designed this really needs to work on hierarchy (it's pretty hard to follow the numbers, the instruction text is very small and vague, and some steps seem out of order). However, Insinkerator has a really good installation tutorial video on YouTube that shows every step!I'm a girl who's never done any plumbing before (other than switching out a showerhead), so it took me almost 2 hours to remove the old disposal and install the new one. (Mainly figuring out how to connect it to my odd kitchen pipe layout.) However, I'm confident that if I did it a second time, or had even a tiny bit more plumbing knowledge, it would have taken me half the time. The old drain mount on my sink was still in good condition (so I didn't need to install the new one), and the twist-off twist-on universal mount made attaching the new disposal easy. I'd definitely worked up a bit of a sweat at the end (mainly from lifting the heavy units and from leaning in to connect the pipes and tubes) but everything seems to be working! The noise level is just standard volume for a normal disposal. I like that the Insinkerator system uses grinders, not blades. It makes reaching in (to grab the tap-out dishwasher plug or a rogue utensil) less scary.Overall, it was much less intimidating than I thought. I'm glad I didn't hire a plumber and did it myself!”
“i did not like that the warranty started on the manufacturing date and not the day i bought it ! the 3 year warranty is misleading !!! this product was manufactured in October 2022 and i bought it 21 january 2023 so i was already 3-4 months into the warranty so i only have 2 years and 8 months left of the 3 years and i just bought it! MISSLEADING PRACTICE”
