InSinkErator BADGER5, Continuous-Feed Garbage Disposal without Cord, Waterborne Gray Enamel, 1/2 HP Reviews

4.1 Rating 590 Reviews
We had the badger 5, 1/2 HP, installed by the home builder of a new construction home. We almost never turn it on as we are very diligent with straining all food debris before it goes into the drain. After 4 yrs, the motor would not start and I began to notice the rust when I look down the drain. I have to get a hex key and turn the motor to get it started, then the motor would turn on. After 8 years, it was completely rusted and it started to leaked. Bottom cabinet was all wet. I guess for a cheap garbage disposal, this is respectable, but I am not buying it again because of the motor and leaking issue.

My prior Incinerator lasted about three years. This one died after a year and a half. I called incinerator immediately and sent proof of purchase; they agreed that it was under warranty. Shipped it promptly with no problem.

So my counter top and cabinet flooded when my dishwasher started to drain because the drain port on side was never punched out in factory. After a frustrating 2h of tinkering I finally figured it out. Product now runs and works like a champ!

It's easy to just twist in when replacing another of the same brand.

Edit: I got it on. It works fine - as expected. Just a bigger challenge to install than expected.I asked a video question about how I'm supposed to spin this mounting assembly onto an existing mount if this new model is designed not to spin. Rating will improve if I can get it mounted properly enough to test it.
