“We had the badger 5, 1/2 HP, installed by the home builder of a new construction home. We almost never turn it on as we are very diligent with straining all food debris before it goes into the drain. After 4 yrs, the motor would not start and I began to notice the rust when I look down the drain. I have to get a hex key and turn the motor to get it started, then the motor would turn on. After 8 years, it was completely rusted and it started to leaked. Bottom cabinet was all wet. I guess for a cheap garbage disposal, this is respectable, but I am not buying it again because of the motor and leaking issue.”
