InSinkErator BADGER5, Continuous-Feed Garbage Disposal without Cord, Waterborne Gray Enamel, 1/2 HP Reviews

Nowhere in the instructions does it tell you there is a plug that needs to be removed with a punch if you have a dishwasher. Fortunately a YouTuber showed me how I installed it wrong and forgot to remove the plug, causing my dishwasher to overflow and flood my floor. Terrible installation instructions.

We had this model for many years before it died. We ordered the same model and had a plumber install it. Very pleased. It's not too loud and does the job.

Would give it a five star, if not for the cord.Unless your plugging and unplugging this unit, you have to use a switched outlet, or as i did, cut the plug off the cord.Should be hardwired at the unit, imo.

This replaced a 17-year old Badger 5 that was new with our house. the motor became undependable, refusing to start at random times, requiring application of the supplied wrench to get it moving again. We never found any debris or foreign objects in the hopper, it just seemed real stiff to turn with the wrench, so I surmised the motor was getting worn out. We ordered a replacement with same day delivery from plumbingsupplyandmore. It didn't make same day delivery, we were just too late in ordering. Although my wife begged me to get someone to install it, I persisted in doing it my self. I carefully read the instructions, gathered and laid out the recommended tools, rolled up my sleeves and began the process. It was so easy that I was almost disappointed. I will admit, I connected it to the existing sink parts thus precluding the need for the plumbers putty and putty knife. I used the existing drain tube, but installed a new gasket (provided). Connected the dishwasher hose, plugged it in and began a tortures leak test. It ran. It didn't leak. Everyone is happy. My wife's confidence in her 77 year old husband 's handyman skills is renewed. Merry CHRISTmas to all.

Our old one started leaking, watch some youtube videos and got the courage to attempt to install this myself. One tip was to replace your old one with the same model to make installation easier which is why I got this one. Installation was surprisingly easy! Popped out the old one and put this new one in its place. Just make sure to pop out the dishwasher hole cover if you need to make that connection before installing. Happy with this model since it also had the electrical plug pre-wired as well.

The home builder installed insinkerator disposal fails/leaks as mine did 5yrs after buying the house.Pro: This is the easiest option to get the sink back in operation. Insinkerator makes all their models used the same matchup sink connectors. Probably it takes only a 15 minute replacement for most people.Con: The previous one, the same model and manufacturer, only lasted 5yrs. The martial was corrupted and leaked with a big hole, and un-repairable. Compared with my other brands I used in other houses, they are lasting more than ten years or even 20+yrs.Tip: buy the same model with the electric cord installed version, it’s only $5 more, otherwise you have to buy the cord separately for $15, and install the cord by yourself .
