“installation of the system was easy. I chose to install a water alarm so that if the primary pump fails, the water alarm sounds prior to the backup pump turning on. twice in the last 3 months I've lost power and the backup has saved the basement!! Prior to installing the backup, I had lost power while I was at work and came home to about 4 inches of water in the basement. Well worth it!!”
“Ordered this after we had a huge rain. I was nervous to install, but saw a couple videos on youtube and felt better. Bought this along with a new check valve (might as well replace the one you have with a nice quiet one). I ran to the hardware store and bought a hacksaw, pvc primer, and pvc cement. Then I went to an auto parts store and bought a deep cycle marine battery. So far, so good. It hasnt had to kick on yet and I am hoping it never has too!!”
“The instillation went fairly well except that I bought a rubber T connector to attach the pump to the exitsing sump pump discharge pipe. If I would have used the supplied T, I would not have been able to adjust the tilt required to stop an air lock in the pump. After I got everything adjusted and installed, I tested it as recomended. The pump worked as advertized, but it does not move a large ammount of water probably because of the lift required in my application, about 8 feet.Later that week I left the state on business, and when I got home the power was out and the pump was in fact running, but it was only maintaining the existing water level in the sump pump pit. If there would have been a heavy rain, I would still have flooding. All in all it did prevent basement flooding on this occasion and I am glad that i installed the system.”
“I thought it would never happen to me... but it did. After not raining essentially all summer long, we recieved about 3 days of much needed rain. My sump survived through all three days and once the rain stopped the float stuck in the off position. So after 1.5-2 days of not raining - I recieved a call from my wife that our little girls informed my wife that "someone pee'd on the carpet in the basement" they are potty training so this unfortunately has happened a few times. After racing home from work I only had to lift the sump lid to un-stick the float and within minutes the majority of the standing water was removed. Had I installed a backup pump like the 507 from Zoeller I would have saved myself a number of headaches and deductible on my home insurance.I purchased the Zoeller early last week (9/3/2012) and it was installed by (9/7/2012). I consider myself fairly handy - but the install only took 30-45 minutes, which included carrying tools and the pump itself through the maze of fans, dehimidifiers and air purifies in my basement. The pump appears to be well-built. The install instructions were clear and easy to understand. The sump worked as descsribed after I tested it out.I purchased this pump as an alternative to a water pressure pump essentially based on cost and concern over my ability to install one myself.I am at ease knowing that I know have a backup pump that will kick-on if/when my primary float gets stuck again and even more so knowing that I have a battery based alternative should the power go out as well.”
