Itmust be extracted from the box then expanded almost the shape of a accordion. It is difficult to install due to holding filter open to slide bottom and top at the same time. Often very frustrating.”

“First, this is a great filter. But, the problem is that it is a proprietary design, so you are stuck with this company. You can't just run out and get a normal filter from a variety of manufacturers, where competition keeps the prices at least somewhat reasonable. I've thought of cutting one of these up, using the mountinr rails, and buying a difffernt filter element and fitting it to those rails - because the outrageous prices for these just piss me off. If we every update our air handler, the Aprilaire air box will be the first part in the trash heap. And when we go to build a house in a few years, we'll explicity avoid this in spec'ing the HVAC system.”
