Moen GXP50C, Continuous-Feed Garbage Disposal with Cord, Polished Stainless Steel, 1/2 HP Reviews

4.3 Rating 228 Reviews
Got this unit for less than half price due to an obvious cosmetic defect. Upon arrival, I found a small gash like tear in the plastic case of the unit, not completely open. I put a piece of black gorilla tape over it and that was that. The instructions were very good. I had a totally new install, never had a garbage disposal before period. I am not a plumber nor an electrician, but since the unit had a power plug, a heavy duty extension cord though a cabinet got me electricity. I used the air switch which was very simple, would recommend if you install a garbage disposal from scratch. The unit is quite for what it is and I am very satisfied. If you can get one though plumbingsupplyandmore warehouse with cosmetic damage, go for it. Usually you cannot even tell what the damage is, or it doesn't matter in the unit's operation.

I had to hire someone to install an electrical outlet under the sink for this product. Food does get caught in the rubber leaflets of the rubber splash guard when rinsing plates off. However it is removable so you can rinse the food out by turning it upside down under running water

I have had insinkerators for the past 25 years and have been happy with them. Recently, I had one go bad and it was time to replace it so I wondered what my options were when I came across this one. I wasn't sure about it when I placed the order but after installing it, I couldn't be happier. The new one connected directly to my old sink fitting and everything just lined up perfectly. Moen had two different models, this one and the one with more sound baffling, I decided to go with this one because it took up less space under my sink and to me that was a big deal. After running it the first time I am left to think that the 'quieter' one must be completely silent because this one is so much quieter than my old disposer and the motor in this one is the larger 1/2 hp (my old one was 1/3, which was fine). I will update this review in a few months to let everyone know how it goes but so far it's been perfect and I am very glad that I had decided to go with the Moen.

I got this to replace a leaking Insinkerator brand. It’s much quieter than the one I had and I hope it lasts longer.

I replaced an identical unit. Using the old mounting fixtures and plumbing made the job super easy. No fault with the old init. I bought a house in which the previous owner had tried to grind up a wine glass. That was more than, the old unit could handle.

Seems to not have much power and takes a long time to get it cleaned out. I also notice it likes to seal up and not drain till you poke it and make the air seal. Wouldn't buy again. Live and learn.
