Moen GXP50C, Continuous-Feed Garbage Disposal with Cord, Polished Stainless Steel, 1/2 HP Reviews

4.3 Rating 228 Reviews
I'm not totally down on this unit but it was very difficult to install mainly because the large rubber strainer gasket was so thick that you couldn't manually push it up far enough to get the locking collar to start turning. I ended up having to use a car jack to push up with enough force to finally install the collar. All that aside, the unit quit working after only three years of very limited use. It made a noise like the blades had come loose and, while the motor would spin, there was nothing to digest the food. I ended up scooping out what I could and running hot water to flush down the rest. I decided to install a simple drain line and would not buy a replacement.

Makes a little more noise than I thought it would. Decent product for the money.

It’s louder than most other models but works well.

So easy to install. Took me maybe 30 min and by myself. Would of taken me less time if I had some help. If you want to hard wire the disposal, I’m warning you that the wires that come out of the disposal are short. I would of though that it would of have been addressed by now since it is a newer brand disposal. Had to work a little hard in hard wiring the disposal. It is louder than I expected. Moen is a high quality brand and I think that it is even louder than my old disposal which was already in my home when I bought it 15 years ago and a lower name brand. I’m able to get past the noise and would of given it a five star if it wasn’t for that.

i like how easy it is to install and make sure you don't wait for your old one to be super rusted before changing it, coz its hell uninstalling rusted screws. and also make sure you have all the things you need when installing the new one.

I need to hardwire to this unit. the problem is the bottom space is to small to fit #14 wire with 2 wire nuts.

I have 2 of the 1/2 HP units. The unit in my outdoor kitchen area has locked up twice. It is not in direct weather but the inside of the unit seems to be deteriorating due to rust. Not sure why. The one in my upstairs main kitchen operates flawlessly!
