“Do your home work before you purchase any tankless heater takes lots of breaker room in your box so make sure your box got the xtra space and very poor instructions I would consult with at least you tube to know what your taking on”
“The plumbingsupplyandmore specs sheet doesn't match the manual in the box! The difference is an extra 60amp double pole breaker and a home run of #6 wire which adds about an extra $200. Great heater otherwise, just plan and double check twice and don't depend on online numbers!”
“I'll leave a detailed review of my install adventure. Maybe it will help someone. I live in what Rheem says is zone 1 (central Pennsylvania) i am on a 175ft deep well, 1/2" plumbing from expansion tank to the whole house, 40/60psi switch on well pump, water filter, softener, UV sterilizer, 200A electric. Water temp at expansion tank drain was 55°. Ran 2 lengths of 6awg wire (20ft to box) and 1 length of 8awg for ground. (You can go down 1 or 2 sizes for the ground, saves $ and headache from pulling wire through conduit) in liquitite non metallic conduit from box to heater. The reason i didnt give 5 stars was the compression fittings on the unit. Why Rheem??????? The instructions for plumbing are non existent. It only says they recommend flex line on inlet/outlet. Which contradict the compression fittings as they are for hard pipe. There are no insert sleeves for softer pipe. They include NPT adapters but with no way for them to seal with the compression fittings. So i cut a small piece of copper pipe about 1.25" long to insert into the compression fitting with the brass compression ring and seal with the NPT adapter. This was the only thing about this unit that made me want have a baseball bat chat with their engineers. You may as well just use a 6" length of copper pipe and sweat an NPT fitting on. So why the NPT adapters? Went to 1/2" sharkbite elbow fittings and sent it. USE TEFLON TAPE ON THE NPT THREADS!Flushed the lines before flipping the breaker on. Powered up and set temp to 120°. Water got hot in bathroom faucet. Almost uncomfortably hot. Same with the shower on a 1.75gpm shower head. Kitchen sink was almost as hot but there was a bit of a drop. Its a 25ft run to the kitchen from the heater. Increased temp to 128° and it is ridiculously hot everywhere. So yeah it works better than i expected but i think Rheem can do better by using NPT on the unit.”
“This hot water tank works as it should. It runs off of one breaker. We switched to this water heater from gas so there was an adjustment period and learning that we had to keep the water flow slower then what we are used to. Keep in mind that you can only run one sink or the washer by itself because it can’t keep up with the high water flow”
