I purchased this product to accomodate a basement wet bar. Prior to hanging sheet rock, I ran a 1" PVC line to the nearest soil stack, approximately 20' with a maximum vertical height of about 9' from the planned wet bar location. After installing the pump, it worked exactly as advertised. It drains a full bar sink in 10 or 15 seconds. I saved substantial labor and expense in not having to jack-hammer concrete in order to lay a drain line and not having to connect to an existing vent stack (through a concrete foundation), or having to run a new vent stack through 3 ceilings to the roof. I only encountered one curve. I framed the wet bar to allow about 12" below the sink for installation of the advertised 11" high pump. WRONG!!! The height dimension of the pump, Hartell Model LTA-1, is actually about 13.5" from the bottom of the motor to the top of the flange that snugs flush against the bottom of the sink. I was however, able to modify the inside bottom bar shelf in order to accomodate the extra inch or so I needed. Even the box, in which the unit shipped, lists it as 11" high. Although the pump can be heard when activated, after installing the cabinet doors on the tender side of the bar, the water activated pump is not significantly loud. Overall, I'm very pleased. If you have a similar application, I would highly recommend this product. I figure I can replace 10 or 12 of these units in the next 40 years and still not spend the amount of time, labor, aggrevation and expense associated with running a new drain and vent stack.
