“An awesome machine, but ultimately flawed by the carafe system. I ended up returning it. The water tank, heating unit, shower head, one-button start, and build quality is fantastic. The huge flaw is the carafe design. The brew basket is fine (if a bit small), the heat shield could be redesigned (too many parts and flicks water at you). The carafe itself is bulky, but the big flaw is YOU CAN NEVER POUR ALL THE LIQUID OUT. Even turning the carafe completely upside down does not pour all the liquid out. Finally, the carafe lid is the worst design I've come across. It's unneccessarily complicated (literally a 'dumb' lid would be better): it doesn't screw on well, you're not supposed to push the button until after tipping (because it leaks!), and it traps old water/coffee in the lid to ruin your next batch. A great machine but ultimately too flawed. It's a frustrating experience when I want a fantastic experience making coffee in the morning. If v2 could fix the carafe system, I'd happily buy it again. To their credit, customer service was responsive and allowed for a return.”
“I bought the Ratio 6 and the ceramic dripper with insulated carafe (a separate add-on bundle). I bought this with the intention of eliminating as much plastic as possible in the making of my morning coffee which is why I opted to use something other than the carafe that came with the machine (the dripper for that one is a high-quality plastic). Buying it this way made my total purchase cheaper than going with the Ratio 8. I will say it is the most beautiful coffee maker I've seen and it makes the best cup of coffee I've had. It's easy to use and very quiet. No obnoxious beeps to disturb the early morning peace. The only reason I knocked off a star is that the water fill labels are mismatched slightly. There are markings on both sides of the reservoir and when I fill it to the fill-line on one side it doesn't match up to the other side by about a 1/4". It's a small detail, but worth noting for quality control. All-in-all I love this coffee maker and would recommend it to everyone.”
“The Ratio Six is great. Each brew is smooth and full-bodied; it certainly makes our chaotic mornings easier to contend with when the coffee is ready to go. The only downside that cost a star is the pour--it is not enjoyable as the coffee tends to sputter out in various directions, and forget trying to get the coffee into your thermos/mug when you're down to the last third of the pot. Aside from tilting the pot 180 degrees (a sprinkle of hyperbole here), you'd have to remove the cover to get the rest of the coffee out and into your container of choice with minimal spillage.”
