Deborah, thanks for the feedback! We do specifically use the words "pour over" in our descriptions for a reason - we believe the more open design of pour over is both delightful to watch and leads to a more delicious cup of coffee. If you opt for the thermal carafe, you'll have hot coffee for over an hour. It's too hot to drink right away for most of us at Ratio headquarters :)

Thanks for the feedback! A few quick notes:
1. If you linger over coffee for more than 15 minutes or so, we highly recommend the thermal carafe. Some folks pour the coffee right away so don't need it.
2. We don't offer a drip stop for a very particular reason - based on lots of testing and the latest coffee brewing best practices, interrupting the coffee brewing process will impact the flavor negatively. Since it's just a 7 minute brew cycle, we figured the wait is worth it for the best possible tasting coffee.
3. We have considered a silicone attachment for this. Would you be interested in that?
