“Does not withstand windy conditions. Bought this replacement for a shelter that came with the house i bought. It was purchased late winter to early spring of 2025 and split across the entire one side late fall of the same year. Very disappointed because this is supposed to keep the elements from damaging my vehicle. I was hoping it would be a couple years before any wear and tear was visible.”

“This my 4th cover and I can declare that one is fortunate if they last more than a year in a moderate climate ( 48.4 degrees N, West coast). The polypropylene will degrade and split over the "elbows" at the junction of upright and roof poles. I have had 2 fail in less than a year, one was replaced as warranty, however, it too failed inside of a year and ShelterLogic informed me that replacements are not warranted. My last cover lasted 2 and 1/2 years because I contact cemented in reinforcement panels at the weak points. By that point the tarp material was rotten. Cheaper than renting a garage i admit.”

We are awfully sorry to see that you are unhappy with your cover. Please know that fabric life is affected by the application, location, and the physical elements the shelter is exposed to. If you live in an area that gets more sun exposure than most of the cover, along with exposure to other elements such as strong winds and snow, it can also affect longevity. We do offer replacement cover kits in Standard, Heavy-Duty, and Ultra-Duty material. The heavier material fabric has a longer warranty and life expectancies which might better suit your needs. “The price has gone up from a couple years ago, that being said it still gets the job done for the money. The only thing is there was no new cord and pulley for the roll up door, I had to reuse my old ones , I feel that should be in box.”

“The replacement cover fits well, as would be expected. It appears to consist of the exact same materials as supplied with the original complete "Garage-in-a-Box" kit. Hence: I would expect it to have the same disappointingly short service life as the original soft parts as well.
And the cost of this kit - direct from the manufacturer - is only $10 more than I paid for the original complete "Garage-in-a-Box" kit on sale at the local Canadian Tire store! (With added shipping, the Replacement Cover kit was 16% more than the original unit.) An interesting business model!!
One specific criticism is that the ratchets supplied with this Replacement Cover kit have reached a new low in quality: 7 of the 8 were un-useable: when attempting to release them to re-adjust the strap, they would completely jam up. Fortunately - I was able to re-use the old, weathered ones from the original kit, and could toss these new junky ones into the scrap metal recycling bin.
