“This review covers 3 aspects of my purchase - these frames specifically, the Rx lenses, and my purchase experience - as I found all 3 to be important in my decision to purchase these prescription sunglasses.
First, the Riptide frames - I have a larger face and have been wearing more wrap-style fishing sunglasses for many years. I decided to go with this style frame instead, and I am completely happy that I did. The Riptides are extremely light and comfortable, and fit really well even with a curved bill hat. They fit sesurely and don't slip, and there is minimal light intrusion on the sides. I really love the style and look of these, while still getting full functionality for activities like fly fishing. If you have a larger/rounder face, these are a great option.
Second, the Rx polarized ChromaPop lenses - WOW! I am really impressed with these lenses. For years I have been wearing Rx lenses from a popular brand in the fishing world out of Florida that starts with a 'C' (you know who I am talking about). In comparing the optical clarity and polarized effectiveness, they are both equally phenomenal... but the Smith Rx lenses were MUCH more affordable! Saving a bunch of money while still getting top quality lenses - you can't argue with that. And Smith did a great job with my prescription.
Finally, the purchasing experience as a whole - This couldn't have been easier. Selecting my frame, lens, and inputting my prescription info through the website was very straightforward and simple. As soon as my order went through, I received communication on my order status. I had additional questions about my order during the production process, and Smith customer service was prompt and clear in answering my questions. I also received my new sunglasses in less than a week, which was awesome. Excellent purchasing experience and customer service!”

“Switched over from Costas. Solid price point. Very comfortable. Only minor complaint is water stains do not sit well on the lenses, you need to use an alcohol based spray to get them off.”

“Absolutely amazing and ultra comfortable frames, the perfect sun glasses for me. The Riptide are fantastic on the water and around town or in the mountains! Smith Optics Absolutely nailed my prescription again, and this is my 3rdc pair of prescription sunglasses from Smith!”
“Overall, I’m very happy with my sunglasses but the right lens has an abnormality close to the nose piece so that when I look left, my right eye vision is too distorted for me to see anything out of that eye. It would be more understandable if I had a strong prescription but my script is very weak (I’m legal to drive without correction). I probably would’ve exchanged them and sought a new right lens but due to a machine going down at Smith, it took a month to get the glasses and I have to travel for work, needed the glasses, and couldn’t wait. Customer service was excellent when I called about the delays and I’m sure they would’ve helped me out if my schedule hadn’t been an impediment.
I tried to upload a video to show the distortion in the right lens, but its hard to film; when my camera gets to the distortion, it just throws the focus off and you can’t see anything clearly.”
