“It’s rare that I’ve been to a place that exceeds my expectations. I’d hoped for it to feel as remote as it touted. To offer some sort of scenery that felt special. To have a host that cared about their site and it’s guests to make them feel welcome. Well, I can wholeheartedly say those expectations were blown away.
We arrived to be greeted by David, who made us feel welcome and in good caring hands. As we finished introduction he turned around and said “Welcome to Barkley’s Resort” and I hadn’t noticed that beyond a row of Hemlock sat one of the most beautiful little slices of forest setting I’d seen.
The photos on this site don’t do it justice. The centerpiece to the campsite is the Bushkill Creek that snakes around the property, babbling and gurgling through small waterfalls everywhere you look. That’s you view from right out your tent.
The tent was like a miniature cabin, complete with wood stove, tables, queen bed and thanks to David, lots of nice touches like lanterns, citronella torches, and more thrown in, no extra.
it was so cosy and comfortable.
Even though David recommended a popular hike not far from his site, we had so much to do on the property we didn’t need to leave, including exploring the many waterfalls, fishing for trout, stargazing, relaxing in hammock and spotting wildlife like deer and a local porcupine.
We will definitely be back next year. If you’re in two minds about making the visit, rest assured, you’ll be writing a similar review soon after!

“Barkley's Resort was everything we had hoped for in terms of natural beauty and privacy. The surroundings were stunning. In addition, the camp was very well maintained, well equipped, and clean. In fact, it was so great there, that we didn't leave all weekend. Instead, we just hung out, fished in the creek, cooked on the open fire, on the grill, and on the little woodstove. It was perfect! Our host, David, was exceptionally thoughtful, great at communicating, and very accomodating about check-in. All in all, a fantastic experience and highly recommended.”
