“AS more and more gringos discover green chile, the heat levels fall further and further. When I lived in NM in the 80's and 90's, the chile in local restaurants would make you break a sweat. When I went back for a visit a few years ago, the heat of the chile was such that you might as well have been at some On The Border in Canada. Hatch has done the same thing, creating a new strain that falls between Big Jim (medium) and Sandia (hot). But the Sandias and especially the extra-hot Lumbres still pack a kick. It's all I ever buy. And I thank them for keeping it available for old Lobos like me.”

“I was excited to start using the peppers in my cooking. The flavor is great but the heat just isn't there. These peppers are what I would expect from someone who thinks that mild salsa is hot. I will enjoy the flavor and try to order something truly HOT next time.”

“This chile is very flavorful but pretty darn hot! I was surprised. I bought chopped this year for the first time in a long time (because I am lazy and like to use directly from freezer) in the past I have found chopped to have slightly less flavor and heat so I chopped my own for a while. Lazy overcame me this year... but This chopped is really great and I highly recommend.”
