Kanbara “Bride of the Fox” Reviews

My favorite so far! Speaking as a novice when it comes to alcohol (I picked this bottle due to the name and experimenting with different taste profiles), this was very easy for me to drink. Super smooth and went excellent with my sushi rolls. It is expensive, but I will definitely order again.

Full bodied and fruity. Almost like dried apricots or peaches. Finish is very ricey. Right out of the fridge it is a bit harsh and alcoholic which is kind of weird. Around 60 degrees it is fantastic though. This was a revisit but I'm not into it as much as the first time. Probably wouldn't get it again at this price.

Thank you for trying Kanbara "Bride of the Fox" and for the review! It's not a typical fruity ginjo and we are so happy you tried it a bit warmer-warmer temperatures will mellow out the sharpness and acidity and bring out the sweetness in this savory, complex sake. We hope you continue to explore the wide range of flavors and nuances premium sake has, and please do let us know if you have any questions.

Another interesting study in how diverse a sake can be by subtle changes in temperature. When chilled, this sake exposes more of its sweeter side but you lose its complexity. On the warmer side, you taste the deeper notes. For me, it excelled at room temperature. I found the bottle interesting, but not worth the price. My wife on the other hand, flagged it as one of her favorites. Also interesting, we each found different flavors on all temperature levels. I would say its definitely worth a try for anyone seeking out a quality sake.

Thank you for the review, Sean! We love to hear that you and your wife enjoying sake together even though you guys like different notes on the sake. For the price point, unlike the grocery stores storing sakes until sold out, we directly import the fresh sake from Japan and once they arrived, we ship them immediately to our customers. We guarantee the high quality sake may led to a little bit higher price than regular grocery stores. We appreciate your understanding!

More richly textured than other sake, dare I say borderline creamy? And more low notes too. Sure, you can find fruity raspberry or strawberry notes but the low notes/bass are what draws my attention in a drink like this. A nose and initial taste of fresh honeycomb, followed in very quick succession by toffee, caramel, white chocolate. Much sweeter when still chilled, and it hides the alcohol very very well. If you let it warm up though, then you bring out some more dark notes like mushroom as well as a fruitier aroma, but at the expense of actually noticing the alcohol. The type of drink that makes you stop and take a sip again and find something different with each sip. Alcohol content wise it is very much an iron fist in a shimmery velvet glove

Best bottle of sake I've had yet! The taste is very subtle. Somewhat sweet and somewhat dry. Couldn't feel the burn of the alcohol. Went down smooth and provided a pleasant drunk feeling.

This sake is stronger than expected, but has a nice underlying flavor. It pairs well with meat and seafood.
