Kanbara “Bride of the Fox” Reviews

4.2 Rating 29 Reviews
More richly textured than other sake, dare I say borderline creamy? And more low notes too. Sure, you can find fruity raspberry or strawberry notes but the low notes/bass are what draws my attention in a drink like this. A nose and initial taste of fresh honeycomb, followed in very quick succession by toffee, caramel, white chocolate. Much sweeter when still chilled, and it hides the alcohol very very well. If you let it warm up though, then you bring out some more dark notes like mushroom as well as a fruitier aroma, but at the expense of actually noticing the alcohol. The type of drink that makes you stop and take a sip again and find something different with each sip. Alcohol content wise it is very much an iron fist in a shimmery velvet glove

Best bottle of sake I've had yet! The taste is very subtle. Somewhat sweet and somewhat dry. Couldn't feel the burn of the alcohol. Went down smooth and provided a pleasant drunk feeling.

This sake is stronger than expected, but has a nice underlying flavor. It pairs well with meat and seafood.

Simply delightful. The bouquet is subtle but wheat-y. The taste is mineral upfront, but intensely cocoa with a hint of tartness in the back end. One of my favorites, and so unexpected.
