Linebacker Squat Landmine Attachment Reviews

4.3 Rating 64 Reviews
Read Titan Fitness Reviews

This Landmine attachment is ideal for squatting without the fear of balancing a bar on your shoulders. The 7" to 11" squat pads provide a firm and stable feel while performing squats and deadlifts. The rotating handles have a spread of 19" and allow many types of pulling, pushing, and rotational exercises while keeping the wrists in a safe, neutral position. Installation is seamless, slide and tighten over your Olympic barbell, load up on your choice of Olympic bumper plates, and start pushing your workout to the next level. Bolster your strength-training routine by adding linebacker squats, v-style squats, hack squats, overhead presses, and more!
NOTE: Titan recommends resting the product on the ground to load plates before pairing with the landmine stand. This will prevent spinning during the plate-loading process.

I love doing landmine squats as the movement pattern feels very natural. However, if you train alone, there is no way to load the weight posts without the bar spinning to one side, if you use the landmine stand as I do. I overlooked this obvious fact at the time I placed my order, unfortunately. So, you'd either need to load the weight posts from the floor, which limits how much weight you can use and defeats the purpose of having a landmine stand, or load the weight onto the sleeve of the barbell, which will limit you to five or six 45 lbs plates. That may not be enough for stronger lifters. For me it is fine as landmine squats are more of a finisher and I do them for higher reps. I ended up taking the side posts off as I wasn't using them and it obviously reduces the bulk of the unit. It is still a worthwhile purchase, as it also includes Viking Press handles. Just be aware of its limitations.

Here is a review that I wrote in September 2018 about the previous version: I finally got the missing hardware to assemble this yesterday, 3 weeks and 2 days, after receiving an incomplete order(box was open when it arrived). I still don't have the bushings for the wishbone handles. I have to agree with the one reviewer...the pads are spread too far apart! I have broad shoulders and I have to go to the very front of this thing...and it still is too big, I would NOT recommend this to a narrow shoulders man or a woman! It is built for someone with Lee Haney's shoulders! Also, the fact that you are limited to 5 steel plates max is a problem, too! If Titan corrects these mistakes on a version 2 and has a price point around 200 hundred dollars, they will corner the market, as the competition's prices for these are obscene! That version was crap! I was so disappointed! I stopped using it cuz it would hang off my broad shoulders. That month I was going to buy a linebacker squat attachment for 375 dollars from Gorilla strength, until I realized theirs had no back handles. I am so glad I didn't and so glad Titan listened! They even priced it lower that what I hoped they would!

So I got this attachment to add some variety into my leg days. This allows me to really lean back into hack squats so there's more emphasis on my quatds. It does come with some pros and cons: Pros: - Price of course. Only other attachment that comes close is from PurMotion and it runs around $500. - Easy to put together - Shoulder pad width works great for me - Locking nut is heavier duty than on the v1 version of the viking press attachment - Can use it for all kinds of squat variations plus single or double RDL's or even trap bar / car deadlift variations Cons: - Unfortunately I got one from a batch where the handles do not fit into the bearings. I contacted Titan and they were very helpful. They gave me the option of either getting a full refund or I could keep it and get refunded 40% of the price and they'll send me instructions on how to fix the problem myself. I choose the latter and they refunded me $60 in points that I put towards another purchase. This is my first time every having a problem with any of their equipment so I put that $60 towards their new trap bar. To fix the issue I just had to file down the base of the tapped portion of the handle. That little bur is what was preventing it from sliding into the bearing. - Loading this thing can be tricky if you have it suspended off the ground. You need to make sure you have your plates close by because this thing will spin. Not really a fault of the attachment, just basic physics. All in all I'm happy with my purchase. However if you do happen to get one where the handles don't fit, I can see how this would be very frustrating. I'm still giving this 5 stars though since the fix wasn't too drastic and I was able to get it done with a $3 metal file from Walmart.

Let me start by saying that when all assembled and used this is a must-have landmine accessory. I have used it with several friends who workout in my home gym and we all agree it is a super accessory. I even solved the plate loading issue very simply with a piece of equipment I already have. Now the cons: the box arrived in great shape. The first thing I noticed was that the paint job was abominable. Major chips and scuffs on virtually every part. I am not one of these guys who agonizes over that kind of thing that occurs during use but as a brand new piece this was unacceptable. I had a small can of high gloss black enamel and quickly touched up the more prominent chips. Next, the instructions. I spent minutes trying to locate the nylon washers specified and finally realized the ones sent were metal. No biggy but annoying. The part that royally pissed me off was the fact that the bolts for the swivel handles didn't come close to fitting into their housings. Spray silicone and a rubber mallet and about a half hour of pounding finally solved that problem. Another reviewer had the same issue. Wish I had read his review first; he called and got a substantial credit. As I said, this is a super addition to my gym but also a perfect example of getting what you pay for.

I really like the linebacker attachment. It is truly solid and very well balanced landmine attachment. It is a great variation to regular squats and shoulder presses. It fits my head and shoulder girth very well. I use it with a set of two loading pins, chain collars, strong chains and two strong carabiners attached to each of the linebacker sleeves (horns). I wrap an equal length of chain around each sleeve (horn) and attach it to a chain collar so the chain does not slide. I adjust the two chains lengths for lift starting height and different exercises. Then I load each pin with an equal amount of weights. The use of this setup minimizes spinning during loading if the Olympic bar starts on a landmine stand or securely hangs from a third strong chain from above. I also go up and down slowly to minimize the swing actions of the loading pins.

I have wanted one of these since I first seen the Version 1 but it has been listed as out of stock for a long time. When I seen that they made another version I quickly bought it. Was shipped fast and got to my door within 2 days. Packaging was very good and was easy to put together. I do have the landmine stand that the one reviewer was talking about and that is definitely a helpful add on but I found that it did not stop the spin on the bar when trying to add weights on the side posts. If you have someone with you adding the weights at the same time it should balance out but if you are by yourself it spins. Although I have only used it once I will update my review if I figure out a way of loading up the side weight pegs so the attachment does not spin. Loading them on the ground would work just fine but as the last reviewer said that would limit what you would be able to load and pick up to put on the stand as you could squat more than you could pick up. I was able to put 4 45's on the actual bar and then put the attachment on after that and it worked fine. Will definitely want to figure out how to add the weights to the side pegs and update in the future. One gripe I do have is the side weight pegs do not fit collars well. I have several spring loaded collars that are to big but fit fine on my bars, and clip collars are also to big. One collar set I do have fit on there but isn't as snug as it usually would fit. So keep that in mine the pegs are smaller than a normal 2" bar so you may have to get a set of collars that fit. But for me I have a set that works so it isn't a big enough deal to take it down to 4 stars. The Pads are a little farther apart than I figured they would be so they sit on the outside of my shoulders but it is still usable and functional just not as close as I figured they would be. I love the handles for push presses and viking presses. Overall for the money you can't beat this product. Definitely gives me a lot of options for my home gym and gives me another leg movement to add on as an accessory to Squats/Front Squats.

I was waiting on version 2 of this to come out since the first appeared to have awful pad spacing. The added weight posts are also a huge addition for this, especially since there is no extra cost for them. I had a few points from previous purchases so this was to my door in 2 days for around $100.. You cannot beat that price. 5 stars for the price alone, packaging was great, assembly was fairly easy. One issue I did have was the bolt on one of my handles was a bit too big to fit through the bronze bushings.. Very tight fit, but I did get it to go through with a couple hits from a hammer so I'm not docking a star for that. I haven't loaded it up with super heavy weight or anything yet, but first impression is it seems to work as it should. The cost on this alone makes it a must buy for anyone interested in an item like this. I know there are competitors that with tax and shipping end up running 7 times the cost of this.
