Eccentric Hooks Reviews

4.7 Rating 20 Reviews
Read Titan Fitness Reviews

Eliminate the need for a spotter and focus on the eccentric phase of your lifts with these Eccentric Hooks. Attach the hooks to the end of your barbell to front-load your first rep with extra weight on the -in.negative-in. portion of your lift, and let the hooks drop off, leaving you with just the weight on the bar for the remainder of your set. As you reach the bottom range of movement and the angled footplates touch the ground, the hooks will release from the barbell, enabling an explosive lift.

Works great! Sturdy up to 65 lbs added to each and probably more. Not overly bulky and can store easily out of the way. Each piece was within a .2lb of 11

I use them for squatting mostly and being 5’5” this is the perfect height for squat eccentrics. I can see taller types needing the extenders but not me.

One of the hooks has a defect. The two pieces don't fit together correctly. I can jam them together and make it usable, but it is a bit of a drag. If I rotate one of the two pieces 90 degrees it fits perfectly, but the holes don't line up and it's not usable like this. Bummer.

I would say that I love these if not for two really annoying things: 1) The pins that set the height of the hooks do not lock into place. A simple rubber washer would fix this, though I fixed mine with a rubber band. Without it, the pins pop out of the hook every time it rocks back off of the bar and then the hooks collapse and I have to reset the height every rep. It’s a minor problem but very irritating - especially given how inexpensive it would have been to just include a little rubber washer or something 2) this one is specific to my hooks, but the inside of the outer shaft on one of them has a metal nub that causes the hook to get jammed up if I ever need to adjust the height. Not really a problem since I don’t need to adjust it, but if it happens to fall in (because of the first problem) then it’s a pain. Neither problem is annoying enough that I think anyone should skip these hooks though. For less than $100, they’re super affordable and they do work so I’m still happy. I think it would be cool titan could address the pins not locking in though
