I was not expecting this tube to make as significant of a difference as it does. I have had it in my system for a month. It replaced the stock JJ preamp tube in my Rogue CMIII integrated. As soon as I installed it, I noticed how much quieter it was than the JJ. I hesitate to claim the Rogue sounds like a completely different amp, but the fact I'm contemplated it tells you something. The midrange has more flesh to it, not really more warmth, but more body and detail. I hear more detail and air in the treble, as well. To sum up, the Brimar noticeably improved the sound of my system and I would not want to go back to the stock tube.

Great set of tubes. Haven't even got them burnt in yet and they are the best I have.

ultimately not a great match for my system or my preference. have rogue rp-1 which is where these went. this is connected to rogue m-180 blocks through vandersteen quattro wood with clear audio performance dc turntable with hana mc cartridge. the system has such rich mids on its own that with these tubes they become alolmost muddled. will likely move them to a second system which is a bit bright

Brimar vs. Mullard Firstly, I was immediately impressed with the low end that the Brimar brought out of my system. My Mullard does not dig as deep. The detail of the low end was improved, too. It was instantly noticeable. The high end was also nice and comparable to the Mullard, maybe just not as much air around cymbals and other high frequencies. Pretty close, though. However, the Brimar simply cannot compete with Mullard in the mid range detail. Not even close. Because of this I popped the Mullard back in after about 75 hours with the Brimar and the Mullard won’t be coming back out. I was impressed with the Brimar, and at roughly 60% the cost of the Mullard it might make sense for some people. Especially if you really need a bump in low end detail and mid range is not a concern for you. If and when the NOS Mullards become unattainable, Brimar will be high on my list of replacements, assuming they’re still available.

These replaced very old Telefunkens that still test good in an Atma-Sphere preamp. A little smoother, slightly lower noise floor, a bit more resolution. Very impressed with the improvement considering how good the Telefunkens are!
