Superior smoothness when used in my Rode NTK microphone. Huge difference, and worth every penny. I went with the Platinum Grade, and recently replaced the microphone capsule as well.

All of these positive reviews started to feel like a dare. So I bought 4 of these for the Chinook, expecting to conclude that these reviews are exaggerations from a cult of crazies. Not. These things are the sh-t. I even copied the dude who mentioned Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side; he's right. Play the second track of Sturgill Simpson's new album. Or Etta James. Or Bill Evans. Or, um, any album in your collection. Instead of repeating what others are saying about the sound, I'll just say this: PHENOMENAL.

If you have a Manley Chinook Phono Stage you must try these tubes - simply transformative (and the manufacturer supplied tubes were very good) these take the sound to another level - more detail - more treble - more bass. Buy 'em!

Great Tube. Great composure even at high volumes and zero noise. I used this in a Vali 2 as a preamp in 2 solid state Hi Fi set ups and a Hybrid High End set up. This Tele is particularly useful when you use it in the preamp section of a bookshelf speaker set up. The unmistakably warm character of this tube literally created a wonderful textured and well toned midbass out of nowhere where the B&W PM1's response didn't even reach with a General Electric tube in the Vali 2 preamp. In floorstander set ups this tube's detail is amazing. You don't notice the increase in detail at first because the tube does not alter the nature of the program (most detailed tubes "seem" detailed because they are actually just bright). The Telefunken manages to bring forth details without having the bright character. It is a mystery how this tube achieves this but its there. It is a very musical and somewhat warm tube that gives a euphonic texture mostly in the low midrange - mid bass, but it does not roll off high frequencies. In that sense it could be called "neutral". For the price its great. If you have a system that sounds a bit bright, one of these telefunkens anywhere in the preamp path will absolutely transform your entire set up. Its also a game changer if it is located at the preamp stage of headphone amplifiers, it can turn bright cans such as DT Series Beyerdynamics into something phenomenal because they complement each other. This is the only I have ever heard that actually has "great bass", and that alone can be a game changer if included in any Tube based or bright HiFi set up. Don't hesitate, buy it now.

I don't recall the last time I spent this kind of money and was so happy with the results. These tubes are just extraordinary in my Sonic Frontiers Phonostage 1, in 'concert' with some NOS Mullard 12AT7's. The sound stage is superb; low volume as well as high volume listening is stress-free. I have literally re-listened to a couple records that I have had in my collection for over 25 years...and heard things I have NEVER heard before. My first listen to Sinatra's 'Fly Me to the Moon' with Count Basie literally brought tears to my eyes. In fact the sound is so good, its a little unnerving: how much music have I actually been missing? Good god!

Traded the original Electro Harmonics tube - 6922 that sells for $15 for this NOS Telefunken E88CC/6922 with the platinum upgrade test installed in the Blue - Robbie Pre-amp. The first recording session was outstanding using a Miktek - CV4, then the Robbie & then through a Manley ELOP+ tube compressor/limiter. The acoustic guitar sounded outstanding. The next night's session was to record an electric Steinberger bass guitar through this Robbie. As soon as he started playing, both people in the room, said at once... WOW!!! It has incredible warmth and tone. Very, very happy! Can't wait for the results on the vocal tracks.
