“We have two WaterGuru SENSE S2 monitors, one for the 28K gallon pool and one for the stand-alone 500 gal spa. We do not have pool service, it is 100% DIY around here for the last 15 years. In the year+ we have had them, we have had a couple of units die (covered under warranty), and we have noticed that the accuracy does not match our manual testing using either a DPD or a FAS-DPD Chlorine Test.
That being said, the WaterGuru SENSE S2 has made a huge change in the clarity and usability of our pool and spa. They are tested daily, which was our biggest challenge. Life is busy, we are busy, and sometimes (or more than sometimes) even the 5 minutes to test both pool and spa just doesn't get done. Now they are tested daily, and we can track the rate of decay for Chlorine, and pretty accurately see when we'll need to add more or adjust the salt system in the pool, and what the daily demand for acid is as well.
We'll keep using these; the cost is trivial compared to the benefits.
FYI, we buy the refill packs that have the 1 x C5 cartridge (5 tests), and the 2 x C2 cartridge (2 tests). We run only the C2's in the spa, and keep the C5's for the swimmable months in the pool, May - Sept, or so. We like following the CYA daily when the sun is beating down; that UV can take the chlorine down 5 a lot in a single day.”
