“A strong light-camera combo with real potential, but several usability flaws keep it from excelling.
Controls and Usability
Changing the clock is unintuitive, and the power button’s placement beside the Q button makes operation difficult with gloves or large fingers. Relocating the power button to the back would improve mounting options. Powering on/off requires a three-second hold (longer than the claimed two); a double-click option would be faster.
Features
Useful functions include the DST readout and video viewing via the phone app over Bluetooth. The Q button works as Quick Capture, locking clips so they aren’t overwritten, though its role should be better explained. The auto-off timer is fixed at 15 minutes; adding customization would improve flexibility.
App and Firmware
Firmware updates are available, but the app could do more. Features like direct YouTube uploads and highlight reel creation would both streamline sharing and boost Cycliq’s visibility.
Audio and Video
Wind noise is significant; wind blockers should be included by default. Video quality is solid, but the display scratches easily, so a screen protector should also come standard.
Sound and Notifications
When powering off, the device plays a quiet ringtone that’s hard to hear — a confirmation beep would be clearer. The USB connection beep is jarringly louder than the device’s set sound level, highlighting a mismatch.”
“I ride a recumbent every other day on the San Diego north county coast highway. I have been using a Fly6 rear camera for at least 10 years. I needed front traffic cam abilities, given the traffic I’m exposed to. The Fly6 has worked well, though I will be upgrading to the Fly6 pro in the near future. I have been happy with the performance of the new Fly12 Pro.

“Pretty good product, and much smaller than it seems from online images. I don't understand why image stabilization isn't "on" as the default in this day in age. Has a way better sound recording (position) and abilty than the 6... Just today it got a very clear recording of me asking someone if they were stupid after they attempted to right hook me.”
“Upgrade from the original I had. Battery life is better. Picture quality is improved but not sure if it’s significant. Organic flash mode is a nice feature.”
“Great device. Just enough light to ride by. Would love it if the camera images could be downloaded via Bluetooth or Wifi straight to my phone for review, rather than needing a card reader.”
“The video looping and in general ease of use for recording rides as a protective measure works ok. Pretty terrible if you want to use it as an action camera. The image quality (even at 2K) and stability is not very good. More over, if you are riding through trees, the camera is very bad at adjusting with the absence/presence of light. So much so that I don't think I can reasonably get the plate from a car even during day time.”
“Cycliq are the only people to create such a neat device. It clearly lets drivers know I am on an often mixed light pattern of road which can otherwise hide me till it’s too late. What’s better than a close shave, answer a driver who sees me. Worst case the camera gives me the evidence I need to go to the police, or for my wife to claim the insurance.”
“Great front camera, good battery and a vast improvement on the previous model. Now showing battery level and time which is very helpful when planning a ride and easy to check it has the right date stamp.
Fortunate to have a deal with a free out front mount which works brilliantly and a quality item. Not sure I would order the mount by itself as it is quite expensive.”
