“So far seems much more reliable than the Fly12CE. The battery life is exceptional, I just wish the image stabilization was a little better. I also wish it could be plugged into an external power source while recording, like the drift cameras can.”
“I had the fly12ce which was a decent little unit. Image quality ok. Not fantastic but good enough to get plates and the integration was great. One less thing to charge.
I like gadgets so I figured I’d try the sport and my god what a difference. The stabilization actually works really well and the higher resolution picks up plates considerably better. It’s not GoPro level stabilization but the battery will last like 5 or 6 hours no problem at 1440p with stabilization on, and it’ll pick up license plates 2 lanes away.
I’m super happy with my purchase, and I think if anything were to occur on the road this little thing will be priceless.”
“After so many close calls with motorists, I decided to buy front and rear Cycliq cameras. On just my 4th ride with them, I was nearly knocked off my bike by a speeding driver who refused to budge out of the lane when he passed, missing my left elbow by just inches. I showed the videos to the local sheriff's department and the next morning, that driver got a visit at his home. Imagine his shock, when a sheriff's deputy is standing at his front door, when he (or his wife) opens the door!
The deputy told me, "We just don't get evidence like this!" Without the cameras, this driver would have most likely kept on doing what he was doing. Now, he will think twice before driving so badly around cyclists.”
“Comment on the camera
- the glass lens is a fingerprint magnet
- it shut down when power is low without any alert
Comment on the software
- very slow in video editing, and very buggy
- firmware update does not recongize the camera at all”
“Having owned the previous generation Fly12 CE since 2017 I was eager to replace my device with the newest generation. The Fly12 Sport is considerably smaller which makes mounting options a bit more flexible as I have run into issues with the previous generation being too heavy for some mounting systems. The dimmer main light was an unfortunate addition but the new pulse settings were welcome. The new screen solves a problem I didn't really have but I can see how it might be more accesible for new users who prefer a clearer visual indicator of the device's status. I feel that the new door mechanism is not as robust as the previous generation seeing as a similar access door on the Fly6 Gen3 isn't even able to handle a rainstorm. The video quality is still incredibly poor compared to action cam competitors like GoPro or DJI which makes me nervous that I will miss a face or license plate in a collision with a negeligent driver. Battery life is good so far and I am eager to see how it perfroms this winter with tempertures in the -20c and -10c. I would really like to see not just type-c connector for USB but also the 3.1 standard for high transfer speeds on future models.”
“Amazing camera - I’ve been waiting for over a decade for a bike camera with long battery life and all the other nice features (HD quality, image stabilization) I no longer have to carry a bunch of replacement batteries for a GoPro and stop to change them every hour….only thing is the light - it’s strong but in order to capture images while riding at night I would recommend a second light. Other than that a great bike camera - I highly recommend it.”
