Weird. I got an e-mail to complete this review before I received, opened or installed this part. I tried to reply to the e-mail, but got an auto-response of "bad e-mail."

The plastic/rubber on the replaced part is starting to perish and has started flaking off. It is in worse condition than my original light (apart from the button section which had fallen off). I understand that new parts are not available, but it is disappointing that this will need additional replacement soon.

Doesn't work. Keeps turning off during the ride.

Well, outside of shipping, it was free, so the service was great. The case was slightly used, but not a problem. The major problem in replacing it was the light pipes, which were next to impossible to reattach and I ended up not getting one to work.

Appalling in almost every way. The fixing straps are rubbish, at least the original ones when the Fly 6 first came out were well made, the joins stitched and bonded down and the strap through the loop was clear of hooks, the new straps are poorly stitched, mine out of alignment and the loop has hooks through there which catch the tip as you are trying to fed the strap through. Battery life, well up to 4 hours, in your dreams, only if you run it with the lowest lighting and then I got 3 hours and at 3.45 it shut down completely, but I am told if I deplete it completely and recharge the battery life will improve. This battery life is OK if you are commuting or a quick trip to the shops, etc, but not for say 100 km rides, which for the hack rider takes 3-4 hours. Using the light on it's highest setting is just pointless if you want the light and camera to function for any reasonable amount of time. Then there is the random shutting down issue, so I have an incident the other day, fortunately all OK, but when I got to my first stop the unit wasn't functioning, it had closed down completely, and it had done this a number of times previously, so pity if I need that footage, which is the whole purpose of the unit. I found a help page on this problem (that indicates this is not an uncommon problem) and it suggested I turn off the idle and incident options. You are joking, to stop the random shutting down I have to disable two important functions of the unit. What happened to paying over $300 for a light/camera and just having it work properly out of the box. The only positive is the improved image quality, but again you wouldn't run on the higher quality setting for fear of the battery going flat before you got out of your street, particularly if you were running the lights on the brightest setting. I am not thinking of using the unit just as a camera in combination with my Cliq light, which shuts down when the bike stops moving and then starts again as soon as it detects the bike moving again. The Fly 6 on idle shuts down and you have to restart it. And by the way it is claimed that the light will restart on it's previous setting, but no mine goes back to square one and I have to cycle through the light settings to the lowest brightness each time it starts. No doubt, if you are reading this you will sense that in my view this new Fly 6 Gen 3 is hopeless and a wasted investment of a not insignificant sum of money. My preference would be to return it for a full refund, I expect many people would feel the same way, but they just throw theirs in the draw and forget it. Perhaps I just have a dud one?? Here is a suggestion for free, why not have the ability to connect the light to a power bank, a pain carrying the power bank but at least it would provide a solution to the battery life issue.

Poor button layout. It requires to press the Q Button to capture an incident manually. The Q Button is located between on/off button and the menu button, resulting in making it very difficult to press the correct button while riding, especially when the camera is mounted up side down. On several occasions I have accidently pressed the on/off button or the menu button and not capturing the incident manually. Also after ordering my Fly12 Sports, a 10% off first purchase dialog popped up. Well is was to late them and I missed out on the 10% discount.
