Hi Karl! "Lid detect" is enabled by default, it is designed to turn off your fan if a rapid drop in temperature is detected. If you're experiencing this often, and possibly in error due to temperature swings, you can simply disable the Lid Detect feature in the app.. you can find out more about that on our knowledge base: https://docs.fireboard.io/drive/settings.html#Lid-Detect
“I am very pleased with the communications with the app. I went to the grocery while the turkey was on the smoker, and I was able to view real time conditions of the smoker. My previous controller would lose contact if I went inside the house! A couple of suggestions though; the drive programming is difficult to understand and a few sample programs might help new users. You could also have users submit their favorite programs and create a cookbook link. The temperature chart scale, on saved session, is too large, making it difficult to follow. For example: I smoke a turkey at 225' and the turkey internal temperature range will be 35' - 175'. The chart scale is 0 - 1000, so my cook range is very difficult to read. Let me know if I need to expand, or feel free to call me.”
“Cannot say enough good things about my Fireboard 2 Pro. The temperatures are accurate, and the fan control is on point. I'm cooking my first brisket with this thing right now.”
“This a really great add on to my ceramic gril. With the fan, it maintains temperature perfectly enabling you to harmonize the ambient temperature to the internal temperature of the meat. Have tried some competitions with missed results. Some are easy to use but don’t give accurate ambient temps. Others are difficult to program. This Fireboard is easy to use and very accurate.”
“Bought the FireBoard 2 Pro and received it about 3 weeks ago. Pulled it out last Thursday to use on a brisket cook. 9 hours into the cook the control box became a brick. The screen had a dim backlight to it, and I could not turn it off or do a reset as the website mentioned. It was fully charged and even when I added the power cord, it would not reset. This was a Thursday after noon and I called FireBoard (during business hours) and no one would answer the customer service line. I left a message, but no response. The battery finally died and it has been dead since. This thing is very expensive and the service staff does not seem to take phone calls. Maybe someone will call me soon so I can figure out next steps. I”
