this is a real easy sauce to like.. The flavor is right up front, you can definitely feel the numbing of the szechuan peppers. The heat starts slow and builds over time.

Super spicy and tastes like the garlic they used went bad. Very oily as well. Worst sauce I've ever had.

Oh no, we're very sorry to hear that. This is a super unique sauce and was always meant to be oil-based, which is part of the appeal for some people! It's also listed as a 9/10 in heat so definitely supposed to be on the spicier side. That said, the Sichuan peppercorn flavor isn't for everyone and can play tricks with the tongue so totally understand if it wasn't for you!

This is hotter than any of the Last Dab sauces except Apollo (which I have not tried). REALLY good flavor. Mixes well in soups. Don't let the subtle label and color fool you (when I got it, it was orange, not the yellow depicted). SOOOOOOO hot, both when eaten and the next day (prepare your butthole). But sincerely REALLY tasty. Will definitely order again in a year (it will take that long for me to burn through this).

I love the combination of capsaicin burn and Szechwan numbing, and a nice flavor.

It's a great hot sauce that I routinely use. I especially like it on shabu shabu. I'll continue to order it for a long time.

Before buying this sauce, I read a review that it was the best sauce they ever had. Once It arrived I tried a dab on some neutral food. That was the moment I realized that person was mad. This sauce is all heat up front and it’s attempted to be covered up by citrus tang. It’s too hot to do anything with other than an oddity with a friend. “Hey wanna try some really hot sauce?” Needless to say it will be sitting in the fridge for a while.

If you're reading reviews, maybe you don't know what you're looking for and you need some help deciding if this is the right sauce for you.... First; it's not exactly a 9/10 heat so don't let that scare you.... It hits pretty hard for the first 15-30 seconds. It might make your ear itch.... But it dissipates quickly. That's a key thing for me when I'm enjoying food complimented by hot sauce. I want to get hit hard and then let go so I can enjoy the next bite of heat & flavor. This does that really well.... I'm personally not familiar with sichuan or chengdu style/flavor. I'm guessing that's where the umami flavor comes from. If you like umami (imagine a earthy savory salty mushroom flavor like miso soup) you will love this, the profile is there with lots of flavor mixing with the heat. It's actually quite divine. I would personally give this more of an 8/10 on heat. Apollo and Last Dab XXX are truly 10/10 heat that lasts almost too long.... This hits just right. If you're looking for savory umami heat that strikes a good balance on chicken wings or sandwiches THIS is the sauce for you 100% I use it as an after sauce (condiment) I don't bake/cook/grill often to use it there but I probably would if I did.

50% chance you will get the correct bottle! My favorite by far but when I tried re-ordering, like others before me, got stuck with a bad batch. Will stick to shopping at their Brooklyn storefront since Customer Service wasn't helpful.
