“The Anejo sauces have their own unique style, quite different from any other hot sauce I've ever tried, to the point that I'm not sure I would even call it "hot sauce". That said, I had tried both their red pepper and habanero sauces, and couldn't imagine anything tastier than either of those, but then the verde came back in stock and I immediately ordered a bottle. Wow! To me, this verde sauce has a fresher and brighter flavor than the red Anejo sauces. Heat is comparable, and the smoky taste is just as pronounced. It's not like their red sauces are off the table now, but to put it in perspective, I just ordered 2 more bottles of this stuff while it's still in stock!”

“This hot sauce was overwhelmingly smoky, so much so that the verde and vinegar notes were barely noticeable. I generally enjoy smoky things (bbq, sauces, even beer) but this was way too much. It made the food inedible. I wish I could return it.”

Oh no! So sorry this sauce threw you for a loop. Añejo is definitely supposed to be super smoky (campfire vibes!). We find it really sings when added to burritos or other layered dishes. Or try cooking with it! When cooked in a BBQ glaze or in a marinade, it tends to mellow and sweeten the smoke. “Arrived when the cap was not sealed. This might impacted the taste. The sauce tasteless. Will not order next time”

I’m so sorry this sauce wasn’t for you! Also, if you ever receive a sauce that isn't sealed, please notify us and toss the bottle. “This. Is. Life. I love the red Añejo sauce but got the Verde on a whim and oh, sweet fancy cheeseballs the Verde is even better than the red. Hot but no pain. A flavor that will make you close your eyes and curl your toes in pleasure. I have used this on proteins, starches, and veggies and it enhances the goodness of every item. Buy this sauce. I buy 2 bottles at a time to make sure I'm never out.”
