“No good for stoney soil.. I own several S & J garden tools and I have been happy with them all, apart from this one! This was very lightweight, which is due to it being made from very thin stainless steel and the major drawback to this is it buckles and bends very easily, if like me you hit stones whilst bulb planting. After just planting 2 dozen bulbs it fell apart, the metal rivets popped out and the plastic handle which I had already taped back together gave one last explosive crack before plastic and spring flew in opposite directions. The planter was then safely stored in the wheelie bin and I continued planting bulbs with a trowel and wondered why I had bought the bulb planter in the first place? Perhaps it is my inbuilt male obsession to have a different gadget for every task. In summary I would say if you have mainly stonefree soil then it might be worth trying but, if like me your soil is very stoney save the money and buy some more bulbs or plants instead.”
