About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “Although we love the chess pieces & the wooden board the squares do not match up as 3mm off along the hinge sides... so not luxury in our eyes.. All works but never had a board that doesn't line up so disappointed”

“Bought this for my nephew for his birthday and he absolutely loves it. The quality of the wood is amazing and has a lovely finish on the board the pieces all have a home inside the board and it honestly makes for easy use and looking after. Weve had many a game on it so far and wish to continue using this in the future, would highly Recommend if you like your chess games”
