About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “Bought as a Christmas present and I dont want to break the seal. There are lots of wrappers. But it was delivered extremely quickly and Im looking forward to seeing it eventually. Even for youngsters, its important to give them a fullsize 3 king Stauntonpattern chess set to start with.”

“The board is a travel type, but of nice quality and made of real wood. The chess pieces are also of travel quality, I was hoping theyd have a tad more detail, but for the price one cannot complain. The pieces are also wood and have a nice feel and fit inside the case. One thing that may not last long is the elastic bands that hold the pieces inside the case, they are fine now but appear theyll probably not hold their elasticity for long.”
