About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “A nice quality product! It can easily fit into a rucksack so that you could play on the move, say on a train for example. I would liked to of seen a small felt bag to give the board extra protection while in transit.”

“Bought it for our son who is a teacher and very techy savvy but a chess fan. In his last school primary he ran a chess club and we hope this reignites his interest. Its a beautiful set the box and pieces are lovely to handle and we just know hell use it its very tactile. My husband was quite envious when he saw it! The packaging was a lovely finishing touch. Im already thinking who else I could buy one for!”

“Bought as a Christmas present and I dont want to break the seal. There are lots of wrappers. But it was delivered extremely quickly and Im looking forward to seeing it eventually. Even for youngsters, its important to give them a fullsize 3 king Stauntonpattern chess set to start with.”
