The set came with a great package and the pieces look good. However, when the board is opened the sides dont align and one side is higher with a gap between the two half. Some of the pieces also dont quite sit right and need a bit of sanding. if not for those issues it would have been a great board but with them, it is difficult to play.

What can I say about the Jaques Chess set other than that I am extremely pleased. The set is well made, and the hand crafted pieces are exquisite. Love the detail on the chess pieces. Was not expecting such a high quality set for an astonishling amazing price

I bought this set to relearn myself and to help teach my 9 year old daughter. It was a good price and I particularly liked that the board acted as a store for the pieces. They the pieces are quite light and so tend to rather easily get knocked about, but overall this is a sensible purchase for beginners.

Its ok but, for the price, I expected more. Minor scratches on the surface. There is no latch to hold the board shut when its closed, meaning its not secure for travel use. Theres no mechanism to hold it open when its open and the hinge itself means that the two sides dont sit flush during play. A storage bag would have been nice also.Nice packaging means nothing when the product is very average.

Extremely poor workmanship, seen better quality from cheaper products.very shoddy and not worthy of selling, would not be suitable for a gift and to be honest we have many different games in our house dating years back and all in better used condition than this.
