“Beautiful quality at a bargain price. This wooden chess set looks delightfully high end.The board and peices have been manufactured really well. Okay so the peoces are not intricate but they look interesting and appealing. What it seems youre paying for is the wood quality. Some very nice wood has been chosen and has been finished off really well. It is a board to be proud of.The board folds kn half and contains chess and draughts peices. Unfortunately these are in pladtic clip baggy, if this item was at full price I would have liked to have seen faux velvet drawstring bags for the peices. Ill let it slide as I got it for 10.99.Lastly, this came beautifully presented. If this is a gift, it comes ready to go. A subtle but smart cardboard gift box decorated with a bowed ribbon. Delightful.”
“This is a lovely little chess set, which I am very glad to own. The board folds in half to make a storage box in which all the pieces clip into their own place for safe travel. I have a sneaky feeling I will pretty soon start ignoring this and obtain two drawstring bags to put the pieces in, just because I am a lazy person. The board and the pieces are really quite handsome, as good as one could reasonably expect for such an economical price. My only gripes and they are small ones is that first, in the particular set I have, the two halves of the board are not quite flush when open, and second, I wish the queens crown was a little more distinctly carved. It doesnt affect play at all, but it really annoys my OCD soul! That said, I highly recommend this set, and the excellent service of package and delivery which comes from Jacques with it. Ill be keeping their catalogue....”
“The problem I have is the use of the word genuine I do not believe the product is genuine due to the below average craftsmanship that has gone into it and aspects of the board just not quite connecting or measuring up right,rhe quality also feels poor and cheap. You can use and play chess with the board however.”
“Wanted a chess set to take on holiday that was big enough to make playing enjoyable but not too bulky and definitely not plastic! This set is ideal lovely wood finish the wooden pieces, while light, are good to handle. Very portable as all the pieces fit inside with elastic holders so they dont rattle around. Good value for money”
“When it came I was greatly impressed with the packaging, exceptional! Great craftmanship and looked and felt like a product worth a lot more than 30 pounds!! Looks wonderful on our coffee table and great to play. The only criticism would be that 3 of the chess pieces are slightly wobbly when sitting on the board. But thats a minute criticism really!!Would definately buy again !”
