About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “A lovely set - can’t really say otherwise, only that we’re slightly disappointed at how lightweight the pieces are! They knock over at the slightest touch. I don’t know if it a cheap wood or just a particularly lightweight type of wood, but a more dense wood would just lend a bit more quality to the set. Otherwise very happy!”

“Bought as a Christmas present for adult son who is learning to play Chess and has limited space for a large set. This was ideal and good value for money. All the pieces are very well packed within the folded board and was expertly packed by Darcy (love the little card to say so). This makes the set feel much more expensive than it actually was, would recommend”
