Baby Chicks: Ameribella Sex-Link Female Reviews

4.7 Rating 78 Reviews
I have two Ameribella from MyPetChicken. They have been great layers and are my most friendly. Unfortunately one - my absolute favorite of my flock - has an internal laying disorder that will take her life shortly. She produces yolks that just stay in her abdomen. The local poultry expert said she sees this in breeds made for higher production but mine is pretty young at a year old to be dealing with it. Her abdomen is as swelling so I found someone who could look at her and she drained it - it’s yellow and thin so yolk and fluid. So far my other Ameribella is ok but I will be sticking with heritage breeds from now on. My heart is broken for my beautiful Mabel.

Thank you for sharing Mabel’s story with us. We’re so incredibly sorry to hear what you and your sweet girl are going through. It’s clear just how deeply loved Mabel is, and we can only imagine how heartbreaking it must be to face this—especially with such a special flock member at such a young age. Ameribellas are known for their friendly personalities, so hearing that Mabel became your favorite and such a cherished companion makes this all the more difficult. We’re glad you were able to find someone compassionate to help evaluate her and provide some comfort, even in such a hard situation. Reproductive disorders can be difficult, especially in younger hens, and we understand how discouraging this must feel. If you're open to speaking with us a bit more, we would love the opportunity to learn more about your situation and see how we might be able to help. We will be reaching out to you privately. Please know we’re holding space in our hearts for you and beautiful Mabel.

I can recommend the birds for laying lots of good eggs, but we did receive a rooster who became a terror. The rest are very unfriendly, aggressive and skittish. We won't be ordering this breed again.

We’re glad to hear your Ameribellas have been excellent layers, but we’re so sorry they didn’t match the temperament you were expecting. Ameribellas are typically very curious and friendly, so this does sound outside the norm, and we understand how disappointing that must have been. We’re also sorry to hear about the unexpected rooster. Sex-linked breeds are usually extremely accurate at hatch, though Mother Nature can occasionally throw a curveball. When that happens, we do stand behind our 100% sexing guarantee. Thank you for sharing your experience

My Ameribella hen is 10 months old now, I purchased her a a day old chick. I just added one of this breed to my flock. She is absolutely beautiful! She seems to be in the middle of the road with all of her traits, and isnt too friendly, or unfriendly. A few of my hens of a different breed are more of my "lap chickens", while my Ameribella just sits comfortably in the middle of my flock and blends in well with everyone. She is a good layer of a nice brown egg. Overall she was a good purchase.

Thank you for sharing your experience with your Ameribella. It is wonderful to hear how well she has settled into your flock and that she has such a balanced, easygoing personality. That “middle of the road” temperament can be a great fit in a mixed flock, and we are glad to hear she is laying well for you and producing those nice big eggs! We appreciate you choosing us for your flock and are glad she has been a great addition!

We are truly sorry to hear about your experience. At My Pet Chicken, we place great value on the lives of every chick we hatch and sell, and we take every precaution to ensure their safe arrival. Despite our best efforts, sometimes things don’t go as planned. While we’re glad we could provide a refund, we understand it doesn’t replace the loss you experienced. Please know your feedback is taken seriously, and we’re always here to address any further concerns or questions you may have.

Now that the hens are all grown up, I can say that they are very nice to the other hens and to people. Nice personalities. I can get eggs from beneath them with no problem. Nice dark or speckled eggs. Thanks.

We’re so glad to hear your Ameribella ladies are such great companions and layers! Nice personalities and good egg production are exactly what we love to hear. With the Ameribella, eggs should be cream colored; she may be sitting on the eggs of the Black Australorp or another of your birds. Thank you so much for sharing their wonderful personalities!
