Baby Chicks: Ameribella (female) Reviews

4.8 Rating 61 Reviews
Our Lottie is an awesome bird! A beautiful black bird with a red face, ash colored legs, and a fire like plumage around her neck with an ameraucana-esc beard. She is very inquisitive and always at my heels. Not a big fan of being picked up but becomes very content once settled. She seems to be our flock leader and when our problem child (a marans) bit my arm while treats were being passed out, she immediately bopped her back into place (hasn’t bit since). She really is a wonderful lady, my only complaint is that I have no clue what to expect from her since she’s a custom breed. I received her when others in our order failed to materialize, I am truly racking my brain at what makes up her genetics-not a bad thing but I’d love to know.

Oh! It sounds like Lottie is definitely the head hen! The Ameribellas are typically very friendly birds and have great personalities. They have shown themselves to be active, curiouis, great foragers and talk about eggs? This chicken breed is expected to lay between 5-6 large cream hued eggs per week! They are beautiful as well with their black feathers with tints of red as well. Of course, if you have any further questions, please let us know. We are happy to help!

Our Ameribella, Juniper, is quite the character. Since it is a new breed, we were ready to be surprised, but if any of us had visions of this gorgeous bird being a pet, boy were we wrong! Juniper is a bit of a nut. Loves to walk across her flock mates' backs on the roost, just because she can. Eats like a maniac. She absolutely hates us, and refuses to be caught, petted, or even approached, despite our efforts to socialize her from a young age. When we have to catch her to put her back in the pen, she screams like she is being murdered. I have never met a chicken so flighty and adverse to being touched before. She is worth five stars, though, because she totally cracks us up, and is a beautiful young hen. We have a whole flock of generally agreeable chickens, so our crazy little Juniper brings diversity, and lots of laughs.

Wow! It sounds like Juniper is truly expressing herself! It’s great to hear that, despite her flighty and hyper nature, she's bringing so much joy with her antics. Sounds like she’s keeping you entertained! We're glad she's found a happy home with you and hope that perhaps she will calm down just a tiny bit as she gets older - but not too much - as she is so much fun to have around and does a great job in keeping things interesting!

We have 3 Ameribella hens that just turned 3 months old. They are very healthy and one (named Wilbur early on) still jumps/flies up to my arm. They are all very fast & we call them ninja roadrunners. :) One has a bit of copper/brown coloring about the neck, & they all have beautiful black feathers that glisten in hints of green in the sun. They've grown up with 3 black copper marans so in size are smaller in girth, and share very similar attributes to our andalusian (wonderful attributes)! Excited to see their characters evolve!

My Ameribella hen is one of my favorite chickens in my flock. She was born in March this year and is just at 20 weeks old. She should start laying soon. We named her Nori, and she is very friendly, loves pets and she jumps up in my lap for cuddles daily. She loves to eat and she is vocal but not loud or noisy at all. She was big as a baby chick very tall, but as she has matured she looks like a standard size hen. Her feathers are black with a beautiful sheen of teal and purple. She has hints of red near the comb and wattles. She has a single comb of good size which helps release heat from her body in our very hot and humid climate during the summer months. She is mostly curious, active and docile but she like any chicken can exert her position in the pecking order. She is not aggressive or mean, she is a wonderful chicken to have in our flock and we are eager to see the eggs she will start laying soon! We always order from My Pet Chicken because they are the best! You can see Nori on Instagram at Coastalcoopandchirps

After moving and starting a new flock, our Ameribella was the first to lay her first creamy colored egg today at 21 weeks old. She’s been squatting for about 3 weeks and hanging out in the nest boxes for the last few days. She has always been one of our favorites and loves to unexpectedly fly up into my arms to be held. She’s a beautiful all black hen with beautiful color in the sun and a bright red, large comb and wattles. I will definitely add more to my flock.

Quiet, independent yet social. She's already well blended in her flock, and she's very friendly with other baby chicks so far. She's been calm until she found a piece of lettuce this evening XD. She got so excited that she was running around all over and took it to 'her secret spot' (ie. Brooder) to enjoy. That was simply adorable. Haha. BTW, she arrived here last week, so only couple days old!

I received my Ameribella girl in late March as a six week old pullet. She’s lovely, all black, very friendly and curious, and beginning to lay. She’s definitely the bottom of the pecking order. She has a very large floppy comb, which is going to require some special treatment in our -15° to -20° winters. I’m looking forward to seeing how she matures further.
